How to Watch the 2025 VMAs
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are almost here!
While Taylor Swift will be skipping this year’s VMAs – where she’s nominated for Artist of the Year – there’s still plenty to look forward to at the annual event, which celebrates the best in music and pop culture. Want to make sure that you don’t miss out on any must-see moments? Here’s everything you need to know about the 2025 VMAs.
The 2025 VMAs air live on September 7
The 2025 VMAs will take place on Sunday, September 7 at New York’s UBS Arena. The party kicks off at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT, airing for the first time ever on CBS. It will be simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramount+. Paramount+ Premium subscribers will be to stream the awards show live via the live feed of their local CBS affiliate on the service, as well as on demand. Paramount+ Essential subscribers can stream on-demand the day after the special airs.
A one-hour preshow hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney with special performers KATSEYE beings at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT on MTV and BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.
Who is hosting the 2025 VMAs?
LL Cool J is hosting this year’s VMAs.
Performers include Alex Warren, Busta Rhymes, J Balvin ft. DJ Snake, Ricky Martin, Sabrina Carpenter, sombr, Conan Gray, Doja Cat, Jelly Roll, Post Malone, and Tate McRae.
Mariah Carey, who is set to receive the Video Vanguard Award, will also perform. The 2025 VMAs will also feature a tribute to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne, who died in July, from Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, YUNGBLUD, and Nuno Bettencourt.
Presenters at the 2025 VMAs include Ashlee Simpson Ross, Brittany Snow, Ciara, KPop Demon Hunters’ EJAE, REI AMI, and Audrey Nuna (Huntr/x), Ice Spice, Jessica Simpson, Latto, Livvy Dunne, Malin Ackerman, Meg Stalter, Nikki Glaser, and Paris Hilton.
Who is nominated at this year’s VMAs?
Nominees for this year’s VMAs, include Lady Gaga with 12 nods, including in Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Album. Bruno Mars is nominated for 11 awards and Kendrick Lamar is in the running in 10 categories. Sabrina Carpenter and first-time nominee ROSÉ each received nominations, while Ariana Grande and The Weeknd received seven.
In addition to Swift and Lady Gaga, the other nominees for Artist of the Year include Bad Bunny, Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Morgan Wallen, and The Weeknd.
