Nicole Curtis made an “executive decision” about the future of Rehab Addict.

In late June, Curis’ home renovation show returned to HGTV after a three-year hiatus. But after airing just two episodes, it vanished from the network’s schedule, leaving loyal fans scratching their heads.

Soon after, Curtis took to Instagram to explain what was going – and to reassure people that Rehab Addict hadn’t been canceled.

‘Rehab Addict’ will return in the fall, Nicole Curtis says

In her post, Curtis thanked viewers for “making Rehab Addict a number one rated show, again,” adding that she was “shocked” by the ratings for the firs two episodes.

“Here’s what is going on…,” she continued.

“I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until Fall,” Curtis wrote. “I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice. It’s just a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air and we (my family +me) thought -why are we giving up Summer when we have the ability to do this in the Fall?”

The team at HGTV was “receptive” to the idea of hitting pause on Rehab Addict. And Curtis herself couldn’t be more pleased with her choice.

“I, truly, am beyond happy with this decision,” she said.

Episodes of My Lottery Dream Home with David Bromstad will air in the place of Rehab Addict on Tuesday evenings. The first two episode of the new season of Rehab Addict are also available to stream on discovery+ and HBO Max.

Curtis says she’s an ‘anomaly’ at HGTV

The Rehab Addict switch-up came as HGTV has been making some other changes to its programming lineup. Several shows have been canceled in recent weeks, including Married to Real Estate, Farmhouse Fix, Izzy Does It, Bargain Block, and Battle on the Beach.

In June, Curtis spoke to Showbiz Cheat Sheet about her HGTV return and making her show on her own terms. (She is also an executive producer of Rehab Addict.)

“I am this anomaly at HGTV,” she said. “I actually do the whole process. I’m actually this dirty. I’m in work shorts right now. I’m going to throw back on my work boots when we get done. And people want to see that because at home, most of these people that watch our show, they actually have to do these projects themselves. And so it’s kind of a risk. It’s my production company this time, so I was like, ‘Yeah, this is the way I’m doing it.’”

“It feels good to be back at HGTV,” she added later. “That’s our home. That’s where we started.”
