Whoopi Goldberg and her co-hosts on The View just got real about long-term relationships and casual sex. During the show that aired on March 18, they discussed a woman who spoke to Cosmopolitan about how she misses her single life despite being in a loving, long-term relationship. Goldberg explained how the woman claimed to have missed bar-hopping and casual flings.

Goldberg then explained to the others on The View that she was single in 2026. Joy Behar asked Goldberg whether she went “bar hopping or any of that stuff.” Goldberg clarified that she did.

“I bar hop, I go hand, and I do hit and runs when I need it,” Goldberg noted. “But I am not married to anybody. I don’t have responsibility.”

Sarah Haines then chimed in as a married woman. She noted that she didn’t miss “the effort of a fling or a bar hop,” but she missed “a binge where I can sit and eat my ice cream and no one’s watching, and I can watch whatever I damn want, not have to write one single person about where I’m going for my day.” Haines explained how she missed having fewer responsibilities as a single person. However, she admitted that being single “sounds exhausting if you’re looking for someone.”

Sunny Hostin added that she’s living “the good life” when her husband goes out of town. “I’m an empty nester now, and I will tell you when Manny goes away on trips, I am walking around my home in a caftan,” she admitted. “In my caftans with jazz playing, and I’m drinking my Belle Glos wine and the good life, man, it’s a good life.”

Guest co-host Sara Elsen noted that she waited until her 30s to get married, giving her “some fun 20s.” She added that it’s fun to fantasize about the days of “pre-stretch marks” and “going out on a date with new people.”

The ‘Sister Act’ actress said she ‘wasn’t having any fun’ in her past marriages

Whoopi Goldberg has good relationships with her exes. However, she admitted in a past episode of The View that she “wasn’t having any fun” while married.

“It had nothing to do with the divorce, I was just glad to get the hell out of there,” Goldberg said, according to People. “I was always having great sex, I just wasn’t having any fun.”

Goldberg married her first husband, Alvin Martin, in 1973. They divorced in 1979. She then married cinematographer David Claessen before divorcing two years later. In 1994, she married Lyle Trachtenberg. The couple divorced the next year.

“I’m in touch with every one of them, because once they were my friends,” she previously noted of her exes. “It doesn’t mean that we talk all the time, but I will be respectful enough for you. I don’t have to sleep with you, I don’t have to eat with you — I don’t have to do any of those things that a relationship forces. But I can be [friendly], because there’s nobody that I’ve lived with or messed with that I absolutely hate.”
