Why Cardi B Kept Stefon Diggs’ Baby a Secret From Her Parents Until Her Big TV Reveal
Just two weeks ago, Cardi B told off a reporter who asked about her rumored pregnancy. “Stop disrespecting me,” she exclaimed as she threw a pen in his direction. “You’re disrespectful. Don’t do that.” The Grammy-winning artist was likely feeling pretty empowered as an LA jury had just cleared her of assault charges relating to a 2018 incident with a security guard.
“Act like you have some manners and your mama taught you [to] respect women,” Cardi B concluded. Fast forward to today, and the 32-year-old had something new to say about that pregnancy.
Cardi B hadn’t told her parents about her pregnancy when she filmed her announcement
In an exclusive interview with CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, Cardi B announced she was pregnant with boyfriend Stefon Diggs’ baby. This will make the “WAP” rapper a mother of four as she detailed the forthcoming release of her second album, AM I THE DRAMA? “Now ya’ll know,” she admitted to viewers about her rumored pregnancy. “Now ya can buy my album so I can buy Pampers and diapers and all that type of stuff. I told ya. Now go support my album because I’m a mother of four now.”
As King laughed, she asked Cardi B about the timing behind her announcement. “You don’t really want to say right away that you’re pregnant,” Cardi B explained. “It’s like, ‘Let me see a couple more sonograms. Let my baby be healthy.’ And you know what’s so crazy? ‘Til today — matter of fact, I have to tell them this week — before this interview come out — I haven’t even told my parents.”
King was floored, saying, “No way, Cardi.” The NYC native doubled down, repeating that she hadn’t informed her parents despite being quite far along in the pregnancy. At this point, Cardi had been wearing oversized fur coats and feathered dresses at media appearances for several weeks. The CBS host asked why she’s waited so long, and Cardi B stated, “Because I’m scared of them. I’m very scared of my parents.” King replied, “Something tells me they’ll be happy for you.”
Cardi B and Stefon Diggs’ pregnancy came from having ‘a little bit too much fun’ together
Rumors about Cardi B and Stefon Diggs dating began in October 2024 — three months after the rapper filed for divorce from her husband, Offset. However, they didn’t publicly acknowledge their relationship until May 2025, when they went on a high-profile date to a Knicks vs. Celtics NBA Playoffs game.
In her September 17 pre-taped interview with King, Cardi B said everyone was advising her to “have fun” with Diggs as she navigated her divorce from Offset. “And we had a little bit too much fun, and now I’m here. I’m here. We had too much fun.” The Love & Hip Hop: New York alum continued, saying she and the New England Patriots wide receiver are “very excited” about the pregnancy.
Cardi B will need a lot of childcare on her ‘Little Miss Drama’ tour in 2026
King pressed Cardi B about her baby’s arrival. “I’m not asking for your due date, but is the baby coming this year or next?” King inquired. “It’s coming before my tour,” Cardi B responded. The 32-year-old’s Little Miss Drama tour will kick off in February, implying that she is currently at least four or five months along in her pregnancy. “I’m very ready,” Cardi B stated. “Even when I’m pregnant, I’m very, very ready. ‘Cuz I’m getting my body ready, like I stretch it out. I stretch. So as soon as I give birth, tour rehearsals starts. I don’t come from weak women.”
“There is nothing weak about you,” King agreed.
Cardi B would know her body best after three prior pregnancies. She shares Kulture, 7, Wave, 3, and Blossom, 11 months, with Offset. In the past, she’s raised concerns about Offset not being as present as she believes he should be, especially with Blossom. Cardi B says she’d do “everything” for her kids, who “ground” her, reports People. Much to her fans’ excitement, the devoted mother will soon be grounded by a fourth child, too.
