You Won’t Believe What Jason Lewis Is Doing These Days
The ladies of Sex and the City had a lot of lovers over the show’s six-season run. While fans have their own favorites, almost everyone agrees that Smith Jerrod, Samantha Jones’ season six love interest, was one of the best. Jason Lewis, the actor who took on the role, is almost impossibly handsome, with deep blue eyes and a disarming smile. He has the trappings of a leading man, but somewhere along the way, fans lost track of him. Apparently, that was by design. Lewis recently resurfaced for an interview in which he explained exactly what he’s been up to for the last few years, and it is totally unexpected.
Jason Lewis left Hollywood to write a fantasy saga
Jason Lewis seemed to go dark several years ago, with fans periodically questioning where the actor had gone. In a sit-down interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he explained exactly where he went and why he did so. Lewis revealed that he packed up his life in Hollywood three years ago and moved to Costa Rica. The 54-year-old wasn’t just looking for a fresh start; he was looking for a new career.
Lewis told the outlet that he’s been writing a nine-book fantasy saga and enjoying his time surfing and learning the language and the culture. Lewis explained in a social media upload that he needed someplace where he could enjoy good food, surf, and focus almost entirely on his passion project. Costa Rica fit the bill.
Since embarking on his new life, Lewis has planned out a nine-book project that includes three interconnected trilogies. The project has a Lord of the Rings bent, but features a magic system rooted in physics rather than traditional spellcasting. While it’s unclear exactly when fans can expect the books, they’ll be getting book seven in the series first.
From Supermodel to Smith Jerrod: Jason Lewis’ Acting Career
Before he was an actor, Jason Lewis was a model who worked across the United States and Europe. In the 1990s, he parlayed his modeling career into an acting career, landing early roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and CSI: Miami.
His true breakout role, however, came in 2003 when he first appeared as Smith Jerrod on Sex and the City. Fans fell in love with his patient, kind nature and his unwavering support of Samantha, despite her best efforts to push him away. He reprised the role in 2008 in Sex and the City: The Movie and briefly appeared in Sex and the City 2.
His last acting credit was in the 2020 film Palm Swings, a drama exploring suburban secrets and infidelity. Since then, Lewis has not taken on any on-screen work, stepping away from the industry entirely to focus on his writing. While he doesn’t seem to be ruling out a return, he’s wholly focused on his new life, and he seems pretty excited to share the project with fans.
