Lily Allen is making a bold and unflinching comeback. After a seven-year hiatus from studio albums, she returns with her fifth LP titled West End Girl, released Oct. 24. The album spans 14 tracks, recorded at breakneck speed in late 2024, and dives into Allen’s personal terrain, which includes her relocation, her theatre work, and the unraveling of her marriage. Now, we’re looking back at an interview of Zoë Kravitz that includes Kravitz discussing an incident with Allen. Here’s what happened, according to the actress.

Lily Allen is receiving renewed attention in 2025. While Allen rose to fame in the early 2000s, her comeback and 2025 album remind fans of what celebrities said about her in the past.

In the mid-2010s, Allen and Zoë Kravitz’s paths crossed in a context that began professionally: Allen, on tour in 2014, had Kravitz’s band (LOL‑Wolf) as a supporting act. Allen later described how “we became friends” and that one night out “ended up kissing” in her 2018 memoir, My Thoughts Exactly. However, Kravitz later challenged Allen’s version of events during a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

The conversation on the talk show began with Kravitz asking, “Who’s Lily Allen?” after a fan questioned what happened between the actress and the music star. Kravitz then went into detail about what occurred.

“If by kissing, she means attacking, then yes, she kissed me,” Kravitz continued, reiterating that Allen “attacked” her.

Host Andy Cohen asked Kravitz if that’s how Allen wrote about the incident in the book. Kravitz shook her head and said, “No,” also noting that Allen made it sound like Kravitz “wanted it.”

“Did you read the book?” Cohen asked.

“I don’t think anybody read the book,” Kravitz dissed.

Lily Allen says she ‘doesn’t need revenge’ following the release of her 2025 album, ‘West End Girl’

Lily Allen has yet to address the resurfaced comments from Zoë Kravitz. However, she is talking openly about her fifth studio album, West End Girl. The album acts as a raw and intricately layered reflection on her recent marriage and subsequent separation from actor David Harbour. While Allen characterizes the songs as “autofiction,” the lyrical undercurrent is unmistakably tied to her relationship with Harbour.

While speaking to Interview Magazine, Allen revealed the circumstances in which she wrote the album. “I wrote this record in 10 days in December, and I feel very differently about the whole situation now,” she noted. “We all go through breakups, and it’s always f***ing brutal. But I don’t think it’s that often that you feel inclined to write about it while you’re in it.”

She added that she no longer feels “confused or angry” about the situations she wrote about. “I don’t need revenge,” Allen said.

The ‘West End Girl’ singer says she nearly retired from pop stardom

While speaking to Perfect Magazine about her new album, Lily Allen admitted that she had thoughts of retirement over the past seven years.

“Yeah, there was a lot of time where I felt like that,” she said of retiring. “I was writing pretty consistently throughout the last four years, but I just didn’t think it was any good.” She noted that she couldn’t find value in her songs until the batch that now appears on West End Girl.

“I hated everything,” she continued. “I guess I have a barometer, which is that if I don’t leave the studio with a bounce of the song to listen to in the car or to send to friends, then I know I’m not emotionally attached to it, I know I don’t really care about it.”
