Taylor Sheridan fans have a lot to look forward to. While Yellowstone captured the hearts of many viewers, 1932, a new Yellowstone spinoff and a sequel to 1883, is in the works. 1932 will continue to focus on the Dutton family in a new era. Here are the notable historical events of the time period that the show could possibly focus on.

1932, the next Yellowstone spinoff to air on Paramount+, is one of many new shows in the works by Taylor Sheridan. So, what is 1932 about? According to Town & Country, Paramount+ noted the new show “will follow a new generation of Duttons during the time of western expansion, Prohibition, and the Great Depression.”

“With the brilliant mind and gifted storytelling of Taylor Sheridan, we have created an entirely new world to explore with 1883 while expanding Yellowstone, and with 1932 we will open up a new chapter in this rapidly growing universe,” ViacomCBS Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios president and CEO Chris McCarthy said.

In addition to 1932, Sheridan has another show, titled 6666, in the works. 6666 will likely feature contemporary storylines alongside Yellowstone.

‘1932’ could focus on the historic Presidential election of Franklin D. Roosevelt

Given Paramount+’s announcement regarding 1932, the Yellowstone spinoff will focus on the Great Depression era in the U.S. According to Politico, the Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a serious low during the Great Depression in 1932. The Dow took a 90% drop from 1929.

History notes by 1933, when the Great Depression reached its lowest point, 15 million Americans were left jobless and half of the banks in the country failed. 1932 will likely focus on life for the Duttons during the worst economic period of the Depression.

The lows of 1932 affected the economy and consumer consumption, and they also changed the political landscape of the U.S. Politico notes the economic crash led to Franklin D. Roosevelt’s victory against Herbert Hoover in the presidential election. This marked the first time Americans elected a Democrat as president since 1916.

Fans watching the new series will likely hear Roosevelt’s famous inaugural speech, too, where he promised, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

While 1932 brings a whole new era to the Yellowstone world, fans will see more of 1883, too. So, is 1883 Season 2 on the horizon?

According to Variety, 1883 will receive more episodes, but it’s unclear if that means the show itself will get a second season. It’s possible the new episodes will be a continuation of the first season, and then Taylor Sheridan may leave the story where it is to focus on his other upcoming Yellowstone projects.

1883 stars Isabel May, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Sam Elliott, and LaMonica Garrett as they make their way across the Great Plains in search of a better life. The new show serves as a prequel to Yellowstone and shows how the Duttons traversed the lands to settle. Actor Amanda Jaros told Express.co.uk she anticipated a second season, too.

“I’m confident that this show will be such a success that it will be hard for Paramount+ to say no to another season of 1883,” she said. “Yellowstone fans are so loyal and I’m sure the next season will be just as much of a roller coaster ride as this season. Knowing his work ethic, Taylor is probably writing season two right now.”
