‘Bachelor in Paradise’: Matt James and Tyler Cameron Not Joining Cast

Matt James and Tyler Cameron were friends prior to 'The Bachelor' and 'The Bachelorette,' and they have a huge fan base now that they're been on the shows. While fans may hope to see either of them on 'Bachelor in Paradise,' James verified it's not happening. Here's what he said.

Fans of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are excited to see what’s in store for this season of Bachelor in Paradise. Romantic hopefuls looking for a connection will gather on the beach for another season of drama, love, and possible engagements. But it looks like Matt James and Tyler Cameron won’t be joining the cast.

Matt James was the most recent lead of The Bachelor, and he had a historic season as the first Black bachelor. Unfortunately, his season ended in turmoil with Rachael Kirkconnell. Her past racist actions were enough for James to cut her off completely after the show ended, though it seems the two may be reconciling now.

“I’ve seen Rachael a handful of times,” James told People, according to Yahoo. “I’m not pursuing any relationships right now outside of that. I said I was going to focus on my relationship with her and that means focusing on it.”

Whether James is with Kirkconnell or not, he made it clear he’s not participating in anything to do with the franchise moving forward, and that includes Bachelor in Paradise. And it seems his buddy from Hannah Brown’s season of The Bachelorette, Tyler Cameron, is in the same boat.

“There’s a negative chance I’ll be on Paradise,” James added. “There is a negative chance Tyler’s on there as well. I think we’re good on that.”

Who will be on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’?

So, if James and Cameron aren’t participating in this year’s season of Bachelor in Paradise, who is? Joe Park from Tayshia Adams’ season of The Bachelorette is definitely confirmed. StyleCaster reports ABC executive Robert Mills confirmed Park will be in Paradise via Twitter.

It looks like two contestants from Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor will also head to Paradise. Alayah Benavidez, the antagonist of Weber’s season, and Mykenna Dorn, are rumored to head to the beach. Both women have ultra-strong personalities, so we’re eager to see how they fare.

Unfortunately, it’s difficult to say who else is cast as of now, as many Paradise hopefuls allegedly declined the invite. An insider told E! News ABC hopes to have Blake Horstmann, Becca Kufrin, and Tia Booth back for another season, but they’re not yet confirmed. And due to the controversy surrounding Kirkconnell and Chris Harrison, others are wary.

When is ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ coming back?

So, when can fans expect to see Bachelor in Paradise back on the air? The premiere date is officially set for August 16, 2021, though it’s always possible this could get pushed back. Hopefully, ABC announcing a premiere date is a sign they have enough participants to film, though.

Aside from Paradise, Bachelor Nation is more ready than ever for two new stars of The Bachelorette. Katie Thurston and Michelle Young from James’ season are both the next stars, and Thurston will have her season first. It begins June 7 and is hosted by Tayshia Adams and Kaitlyn Bristowe instead of Harrison.

James has nothing but kind, encouraging words for Thurston, too. “She’s incredible,” he told E! News. “She’s going to do so well, and I’m excited for her to have this space to find her person. I think that she’s going to be one of the best to ever do it, and it’s not going to be a surprise to me as we watch everyone across the country fall in love with her.”
