Internet sleuths have been providing clues online that they may be going through a bit of a rough patch. There have been rumors that Lopez and Affleck have been facing challenges in their relationship as early as the beginning of the year. In Touch alleged not too long ago that they were having trouble resolving differences that carried over from their first relationship back in the 2000s. The anonymous source claimed that Lopez was determined to work out these differences, as another divorce would’ve been a nightmare for the star.

For most of May, speculation about their potential divorce reemerged after Lopez was seen at the Met Gala without Affleck. A spokesperson for Affleck shared that he didn’t accompany his wife at the star-studded event due to a scheduling conflict with a film he was shooting. Still, this didn’t stop murmurs that their relationship was heading towards a breaking point. When Affleck reportedly moved out of Lopez’s home, this only intensified the divorce conversation.

Recently, Paparazzi spotted Lopez and Affleck reunited in a garage. The couple walked closely by each other, showing solidarity in the wake of divorce rumors. Body language expert Patti Wood felt their recent night out and PDA was a positive sign for their relationship.

“Even in the stress of everything that’s going on— all the public scrutiny—they’re side by side,” Wood said according to Women’s Health. “It’s an indication that they are centered and grounded with one another. It’s unusual in a power couple.”

Wood noted that they were in sync, but that there was also some apparent tension while they were on the move. The expert theorized that this came from the awareness of being watched by the paparazzi.

Another picture showed Affleck and Lopez both showing their frustrations towards the paparazzi. Wood agreed that their hostility was more towards the photographers than at each other. The expert also doubted there was any real trouble going on in their marriage.

“It’s not about them as a couple. In fact, as a couple, both of their expressions are showing pissed,” Wood said.

This wasn’t the first time the paparazzi was caught annoying the couple. Last year, a video went viral of the paparazzi snapping a picture of Affleck letting Lopez into the passenger’s side of a car. Then, seemingly, exasperated, Affleck would slam the car door before walking over to the driver’s side. The video recently made its rounds over the internet again this month, with some wondering if they were early signs of potential cracks in their relationship. Body language expert Judi James added her two cents to the incident, feeling that Affleck’s movements expressed clear frustration with the paparazzi.

“The car door incident came after some very sweet moments between the couple as they went off to get a coffee,” James once told The Mirror. “Ben walks in front of Jennifer and his mood appears to have shifted. He opens the car door for her but fails to look at her as she climbs in, although he does glance before he shuts the door. His door-shutting gesture looks dramatic and angry although any irritation seems to be caused by and aimed at the photographers, who he continues to communicate with and gesticulate to once he gets to his side of the car.”

Lopez and Affleck have been very candid about how the media played a part in their first break-up.

“I would say [media attention] was about 50 percent,” Affleck once said on The Howard Stern Show. “The idea that people hate you and they hate you together and that being together is poison and ugly and toxic and the thing none of us want to be part of.”

James theorized that Lopez was concerned this might once again pose a threat to their relationship.

“The worry is if he is again finding being ‘under siege’ difficult, which could in turn worry Jennifer if there was a repeat of the pressures that led to their first engagement and marriage being called off,” James said.
