BTS is so popular they now break their own records. Member Jimin recorded an original soundtrack song with singer Ha Sung-woon for the series Our Blues. “With You” was released on Sunday, April 24. It quickly rose up the charts breaking an iTunes record for the fastest song to hit No. 1 in over 100 regions. The previous record-holder was “Dynamite” by none other than BTS.

It took less than 5 hours for ‘With You’ to top iTunes charts worldwide

The demand for Jimin and BTS-related music can not be overstated. It seems anything the seven-member K-pop group touches turns to gold. Vocalist Jimin teamed up with his personal friend, South Korean singer Ha Sung-woon to record a single for the drama series Our Blues

When “With You” was released, fans quickly pushed the song to the top of the charts. Soompi reported that it took four hours and 22 minutes to reach No. 1 on iTunes charts in over 100 regions.

BTS’ smash crossover song “Dynamite” took eight hours to achieve the same goal. Unlike the disco dance track “Dynamite,” “With You” is an emotional ballad. The love song tells the story of wanting to stay close to someone’s beloved. The song is sung primarily in English with a few Korean lyrics.

“Just take it all/ I’m nothing without your love/ I promise I’ll never leave your love/ My heart is beating ’cause of you.” The chorus continues, “Forever and ever, and ever/ Only you can take my heart/ Dear my love, love, love/ I wanna stay with you.”

Other BTS members have recorded soundtrack songs

“With You” is Jimin’s first original soundtrack song. In K-Dramas, music plays a large role in the storytelling. One piece will be played continuously throughout the series to drive home the narrative. K-pop idols lend their voices to OSTs (original soundtrack songs) from time to time.

BTS members Jin and V found success when they recorded original songs for K-Dramas Our Beloved Summer and Jirisan. V’s good friend, Parasite actor Choi Woo-shik personally asked V to record “Christmas Tree” for Our Beloved Summer. When “Yours” from Jirisan was released in Nov. 2021, Jin set a record for the biggest Spotify debut for a Korean OST.

During a recent VLive, a fan asked Jimin about the new song. He replied, “You guys, I’m trying out this for the first time, and I want to try out new things in the future too, so I’m starting out from here. I’ll work hard!!” V shared, “I listened to it earlier today.”

Fans react – ‘Jimin you made me cry’

After episode four of Our Blues aired, fans couldn’t wait to share their thoughts on the soundtrack song. On a Reddit thread, one fan wrote, “Jimin you made me cry. Words cannot describe how moved I am. The instrumental is chef’s kiss.”

Many fans were happy to hear Jimins lower register.

“This song is so beautiful. Jimin’s voice is so full of emotion and we got to hear his lower register, I’m in awe!!”

“Jimin’s voice in the beginning is amazing, I love when he sings with that lower tone. His and Sungwoon’s voices went sooo well together, I love this song so much.”

“They sound great together but Jimin’s lower register is the highlight for me. We don’t get to hear it too often and it is so beautiful. I want more!”

Fans may get a chance to hear more of Jimin’s lower register when BTS returns with We Are Bulletproof on June 10, 2022.
