Jessica Biel and Melanie Lynskey star in Candy on Hulu, but who portrays Allan Gore in the true crime drama? Biel portrays 1980s Texas housewife Candy Montgomery, while Lynskey plays Betty Gore. Betty’s husband, Allan, has an affair with Candy. When Betty confronts her friend and fellow churchgoer about the transgression, one woman doesn’t make it out alive in the true story of Candy Montgomery.

Who plays Allan Gore in ‘Candy’ on Hulu?

Pablo Schreiber plays Allan Gore in the Candy cast on Hulu. Although he has an extensive filmography, viewers probably recognize him from Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. Schreiber portrayed correctional officer George ‘Pornstache’ Mendez, who had a relationship with Dayanara “Daya” Diaz (Dascha Polanco). As a Litchfield Penitentiary prison guard, he was corrupt and sexually abusive to the inmates. He’s recognized early on for his unforgettable mustache, but he grows a beard and a mullet in later seasons.

In 2020, Schreiber played assistant district attorney Neal Loguidice in the Apple TV+ mini-series Defending Jacob. Then in 2022, he took the role of Master Chief in the Halo miniseries based on the video game by the same name.

According to IMDb, Schreiber is also well known for the films 13 Hours (2016), Den of Thieves (2018), and Skyscraper (2018).

Other TV credits include the role of Mad Sweeney in American Gods on Starz, William Lewis in Law & Order: SVU, and Demetri Ravitch in Weeds on Showtime.

Pablo Schreiber plays Betty’s husband and Candy’s lover in ‘Candy’ on Hulu

When Candy on Hulu Episode 1 opens, Allan Gore portrays Betty Gore’s husband. He takes the dogs out and gets ready for work while his wife takes care of their crying baby in their one-story home in Wylie, Texas. Allan is about to embark on a business trip that his wife disapproves of.

However, as Candy on Hulu progresses through the five-episode miniseries, viewers find out that Allan Gore had an affair with Candy Montgomery. The pair played volleyball together, and Candy initiated a series of transgressions before Betty’s untimely death in 1980.

Schreiber feels Allan Gore’s mustache in ‘Candy’ is better than in ‘OITNB’

Pablo Schreiber revealed in a recent interview that Allan Gore’s mustache in Candy is his best ever. It’s better than Pornstache’s in Orange Is the New Black because this new one is authentic.

“I try not to compare myself to other people, so I’d have to compare it to myself and my own historic mustaches,” he told GQ when asked to rate Allan’s mustache. “I’d rate it as the top Pablo mustache ever, and that’s going above Pornstache, only because for Allan Gore: that was just a completely self-generated mustache, whereas Pornstache was a glue-on. Here I am at the delicate age of 44, finally able to grow my own mustache without embarrassment. Life is a process, and we’re just getting better on our own. Number one. Number one for me.”
