Elizabeth Olsen‘s portrayal of Wanda Maximoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a fan favorite in recent years. So there’s no doubt that many would be happy to see more of the Scarlet Witch in the MCU. Unfortunately, the Doctor Strange 2 ending didn’t leave Wanda in such a great place, but Olsen has high hopes for her future at Marvel.

Scarlet Witch seemingly died in the MCU’s ‘Doctor Strange 2’

Many fans predicted that the Scarlet Witch would be the MCU villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the film didn’t waste any time confirming their suspicions.

The movie begins with America Chavez, who is running from someone who was sending monsters after her. America can travel throughout the multiverse, and this person wanted that power for themself. She ends up on Earth-616, which is where all of the heroes of the MCU live. America meets up with Doctor Strange, who then goes to Wanda to ask for help. However, he discovers that she is the one who wants to kill America.

A chase throughout the multiverse ensued, but Wanda becomes aware of her wrongdoing in the end. The Darkhold had manipulated her mind, so she destroyed every copy of it in the multiverse. And she brought down Mount Wundagore in the process, seemingly killing the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

Elizabeth Olsen believes the Scarlet Witch will return to the MCU

During an interview with Variety, Elizabeth Olsen confronted her ambiguous future as the Scarlet Witch in the MCU.

“It’s weird that I’m expecting to return, but no one’s told me I’m doing anything!” the actor revealed. “But in my mind, I’m just making the assumption that they’ll have me again. I don’t know to what capacity, but I hope I’m back. I hope there’s also more fun to be had in something different. Where do we go? I feel like we’ve done so much with her. It’s been really a wild couple years with her.”

Although Marvel has yet to confirm that Wanda is alive following the Doctor Strange sequel, it sounds like Olsen is confident that a mountain couldn’t bring down her character. Perhaps we’ll see the Scarlet Witch become a hero again in a future MCU movie, or she’ll finally get a solo film.

“I don’t really know what I do next after this movie. I don’t really know,” the actor shared. “I want to know what fans want and what the ideas are. But I guess you just said it — if we’re bringing X-Men back, I’ll want to be there. But I have no actual plans yet. I am very excited to talk with [Marvel Studios president] Kevin [Feige] about that at some point.”
