What will ‘Disenchanted’ be about?

Enchanted came out in 2007 and marked a fun new experiment for Disney. The film combined Disney’s classic 2D animation style with live-action, and featured original songs from legends Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. The movie musical starred Adams as Giselle, Dempsey as divorce lawyer Robert Philip, Idina Menzel as Nancy Tremaine, and Marsden as Prince Edward.

The movie ended with Giselle and Robert together and Nancy and Edward getting married in the animated world of Andalasia. Disenchanted will revisit the couples and show how their happily ever afters are going. As a May 17 press release from Disney+ said:

Disenchanted features the much-anticipated return of Giselle, the princess from the fairy tale world of Andalasia banished to Manhattan who found her real Prince Charming in divorce lawyer Robert Philip. 15 years later, Giselle moves to the suburb of Monroeville with Robert and their teenage daughter Morgan, where she must juggle the challenges that come with a new home and discover what happily ever after truly means to her and her new family.”

‘Disenchanted’ will stream exclusively on Disney+

With the success of Disney+ debuts, the studio announced in 2020 Disenchanted would debut on the streaming service.

“Disenchanted, a sequel to the hit film Enchanted, will stream exclusively on @DisneyPlus,” the studio tweeted in December 2020. “Amy Adams returns for more fantastical fun as Giselle!”

Disenchanted will debut exclusively on Disney+ in 2022. An exact release date has not been announced. The original movie is currently not on Disney+, or any streaming service, for that matter. The studio has not revealed if Enchanted will be available for streaming by the time of the sequel’s release.
