The last Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 episodes on April 7 left viewers wanting more, as usual, but they aren’t on tonight, April 21. Station 19 Season 5 Episode 15 left viewers wondering whether Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) will go to jail for the death of Jeremy (Daniel Di Tomasso). Then, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) informs Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) that she’s ready to leave Grey Sloan Memorial behind forever in Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 15. However, viewers’ disappointment to wait even longer for Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 is agonizing. When will the Shondaland shows return to Thursday night?

Why aren’t ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Station 19’ on tonight, April 21, 2022?

According to ABC’s schedule, Station 19 Season 5 and Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 are not new tonight, April 21. Last week Shondaland fans received a special treat — Throwback Thursday. ABC took things back to the Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) days with two fan-favorite Grey’s Anatomy episodes. It was back to the early days with the Grey’s Anatomy Season 4 finale episodes 16 and 17. The original air date for the two-hour finale was May 22, 2008. However, tonight, April 21, ABC airs Jumanji: The Next Level in place of Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy.

Then on April 28, Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 again lose their time slots.

When do ‘Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 and ‘Station 19’ Season 5 return?

Viewers must wait until May 5 to see Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 return to Thursday night. In the Station 19 Season 5 Episode 16 promo, a judge charges Andy Herrera with manslaughter in the first degree. He sets bail at $100,000. Then in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 15 preview, Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) returns to Grey Sloan.

What to expect when ‘Station 19’ Season 5 Episode 16 returns

Although ABC did not yet release a synopsis for the next new Station 19 episode, there’s a lot to unpack in that 30-second clip. After Judge H. Pendleton informs Andy of her charges in the Station 19 Season 5 Episode 16 preview, she pleads not guilty. However, the local news brandishes her as a killer. Jack (Grey Damon) hugs Andy after she walks out of King County Central Jail.

Meanwhile, Fire Chief Natasha Ross (Merle Dandridge) informs her that a firefighter charged with a felony should be suspended. When Andy protests that she didn’t rob a bank, Natasha counters with the fact that she killed a man (despite that it was self-defense). In another scene, Andy’s mother, Elena (Patricia De Leon), comes searching for her. Robert Sullivan (Boris Kodjoe) and Vic Hughes (Barrett Doss) do not look happy to see Elena. However, in a later scene, Elena finds Andy.

What to expect when ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Season 18 Episode 16 returns

When Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 16 returns on May 5, Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) confronts Meredith about taking the job in Minnesota. The older sister responds that she’s made her decision already.

Then Addison Montgomery walks down the hallway toward the sisters.

“Well, well, how far the mighty have fallen,” Dr. Montgomery says.

It looks like she’s back to help Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) respond to the decision by the council reps to place the Grey Sloan residency program on probation. Hopefully, she can help fill that shortage of physicians.

Look for Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 to return to ABC on May 5, 2022. Station 19 airs at 8 p.m. EST, followed by Grey’s Anatomy at 9 p.m.
