As one of the biggest names in Hollywood, it’s hard to remember a time when the actress wasn’t the huge star that she is today. But just how long ago did the Gwyneth Paltrow start acting and how old is she today? Let’s take a look at some of the actresses most notable roles, what she’s doing now, and where she got her start.

For Paltrow, a career outside of Hollywood was never really an option. Her mom is famed actress Blythe Danner and her father is the notable director and producer Bruce Paltrow. And her godfather? Well, that’s none other than Steven Spielberg.

The actress got her start in Hollywood at the young age of 17. She landed in a part in the TV movie High. After her debut, Paltrow spent the next several years developing her acting skills in movies that included Shout, Hook, and Flesh and Bone. However, her lead role in the Jane Austen inspired film Emma catapulted the actress to stardom.

It was Emma that led Paltrow to be cast in the Oscar-winning movie, Shakespeare in Love. The film won best picture, as well as six other awards, including Paltrow’s win for best actress.

After Shakespeare in Love, Paltrow starred in The Talented Mr. Ripley opposite Matt Damon and Jude Law, and Shallow Hal. For the next few years, Paltrow’s movies didn’t garner a lot of attention, until she landed the role of Pepper Potts in Iron Man. Her Iron Man role has arguably been one of the actresses biggest cinematic successes and one that she played for over 10 years.

Now that Avengers has come to an end, Paltrow is changing gears. The actress is currently filming the TV series The Politician. The series is scheduled to come out in September.

It’s not just her movie roles that have gotten attention

It may be the actress’ movie roles that pay the bills, but Paltrow’s personal life has people talking as well. The actress has been married twice, and both times her comments about her marriage have received a lot of attention.

Paltrow was married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin from 2003 to 2016. Their marriage seemed normal, but there were a few signs that they liked to take the unconventional approach. Martin and Paltrow raised eyebrows when they chose to name their daughter Apple. But people really started talking when the couple separated in 2016 and announced that they were “consciously uncoupling”, which appeared to be the couple’s way of saying they were getting a divorce.

After divorcing Martin in 2016, Paltrow married director Brad Falchuk in 2018. The two maintained a relatively low profile until the actress revealed the couple’s living arrangement. As it turns out, Paltrow and Falchuk don’t live together full-time.

Instead, they stay at the same house four nights a week but maintain separate residences during the remaining days. Paltrow told The Sunday Times that her intimacy teacher inspired this living arrangement and that it has worked out quite well for the couple.

How old is Gwyneth Paltrow?

Gwyneth Paltrow was born on September 27, 1972. This means the actress will be turning 47-years-old this year – a fact we just can’t get over. The actress simply doesn’t seem to age. Maybe it has something to do with good genetics (her mother looks amazing at 76) or maybe there is something about all the unorthodox lifestyle treatments her GOOP brand promotes. Whatever it is, it’s still hard to believe that the actress will be 50 in just a few years.
