Yellowstone Season 5 is officially in pre-production, and filming will begin next month. Taylor Sheridan’s western has been such a massive hit for Paramount that they are both fast-tracking and expanding the next season. At the same time, the Yellowstone-verse is getting bigger with new prequels and spinoffs.

‘Yellowstone’ season 5 will be super-sized

The first four seasons of Yellowstone featured no more than 10 episodes each. But season 5 is going to look very different. The upcoming season will have a total of 14 episodes, and it will be split into two halves.

The first half of season 5 is expected to premiere in late summer, and seven episodes will air on Paramount before the show takes a break. During the hiatus, streamer Paramount+ will feature “additional episodes” of the prequel 1883, starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (Montana settlers James and Margaret Dutton).

Those extra episodes of 1883 will wrap up the storyline of that Dutton generation while making room for the next in the Great Depression and Prohibition era. That new prequel will be titled 1932.

When the second half of Yellowstone airs in late 2022, those episodes will help launch 1932 on the Paramount Network before they move exclusively to Paramount+.

‘Yellowstone’ fans can be part of season 5 — here’s how

Just like season 4 of Yellowstone, season 5 will be filmed exclusively in Montana. And when cameras start rolling, the show will need a number of extras. Fans of the show who would like to be part of season 5 can take part in an open casting call that was recently sent out by casting directors Kelly Hunt and Tracy Dixon.

According to The Missoulian, the show is seeking extras for shooting runs between May and December in the towns of Darby, Hamilton, and Missoula. The casting call is for extras age 9 and older, and the positions are paid.

Interested applicants should email a current photo to [email protected] (individual photos, not family shots). The email should also include height, weight, clothing sizes, a contact phone number, and city and state of residence.

For more information and updates, fans should go to “Yellowstone Extras Casting” on Facebook or visit the Yellowstone extras casting website for more information.

Taylor Sheridan’s western has added two new regular cast members

Season 5 of Yellowstone will have two more regular cast members when the show begins filming in May. Joining Kevin Costner (John Dutton), Kelly Reilly (Beth), Luke Grimes (Kayce), Wes Bentley (Jamie), Cole Hauser (Rip), and Jefferson White (Jimmy) is Jen Landon as Teeter and Kathryn Kelly as Emily.

Landon and Kelly were recurring cast members in season 4, but have been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming season. This news comes as a bit of a surprise to fans, who were expecting White and Kelly to be part of the upcoming spinoff 6666 at the Four Sixes Ranch after the couple said goodbye and headed south in the Yellowstone season 4 finale.

Yellowstone season 5 will premiere this summer on Paramount Network. Seasons 1 through 4 are now playing on Peacock.
