Michael Strahan retired from the NFL in 2007 after 15 seasons with the New York Giants. He then started a career as an analyst on Fox NFL Sunday. But anyone who doesn’t follow football quickly learned his name as Strahan began co-hosting Live! with Kelly Ripa. He was on that program from 2012 to 2016 before leaving to serve as a co-host on Good Morning America.

Strahan’s high profile has some fans wanting to know more about his life away from the cameras. Well, recently he gave fans a glimpse of the New York City property he calls home.

Strahan previously owned a mansion in Brentwood, California

Strahan has lived in a few different zip codes over the years and owned a few properties. One home was a mansion in Brentwood, California.

That home was built in 2013 and was 15,600 square feet. The space included nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms spread out over three floors with an elevator of course so no one had to walk up and down the stairs.

Strahan’s previous home also boasts a home theater, a gym, a game room, a cigar-friendly library, as well as a wine cellar partnered and drinking lounge. The outside area offers a 59-foot swimming pool, a cabana, and a spot for grilling or barbeque.

Strahan sold the property in 2015 for $21.5 million.

A look inside his NYC sanctuary

In early 2021, Strahan tested positive for the coronavirus and was quarantined at home. His primary residence is in Manhattan on the Upper West Side.

He previously spoke to The New York Times about why he enjoys living in that part of the city. Strahan said: “I like the Upper West Side, because, being a father, I like the family feel to it. You see mothers with strollers, people walking their dogs. One thing I love about the neighborhood when you go into places, it’s not like, ‘Michael!’ I’m another person who’s just there.”

So what does the townhouse look like inside? Well, luckily the TV personality has started giving fans glimpses via posts on his Instagram account.

Strahan loves to cook and videos he’s shared while doing so feature a stylish kitchen complete with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances, off-white cabinets, a breakfast bar, and an additional seating area. Other videos he posted with his daughters show an open-plan living room with a large sofa, a coffee table, a flatscreen television, and several pieces of artwork mounted on the walls.

But perhaps the best thing about Strahan’s home is that the property includes an outdoor space, which is a rarity in NYC, with French double doors that lead out to a terrace. “I have a little backyard, open the doors, sit out there and have breakfast or just let the sunlight and the warmth come in,” he told The Times.

Strahan has had a few reasons to celebrate lately

In 2021, Strahan had a few reasons to celebrate and posted pics of his mother while she was staying at his pad with him. In November, he celebrated his milestone 50th birthday and days later his jersey was retired by the New York Giants with a ceremony at the team’s stadium in front of so many of the Hall of Famer’s fans.

Something else that was very exciting for Strahan is he got to take a trip to space. On Dec. 11, the morning show anchor joined the latest crewed mission from Jeff Bezos’ aerospace company Blue Origin. The former NFL star was one of six people who flew that day including Laura Shepard Churchley, who is the daughter of the first U.S. astronaut Alan Shepard.

In a video posted on Twitter days before takeoff, Strahan admitted that he was feeling “a little nervous.” But after his experience, he and the rest of the crew were all smiles as they hugged their loved ones when they landed.
