Most celebrities are worth millions of dollars, so it makes sense that they’d be taking out insurance policies left and right to insure their goods just in case disaster strikes. Something we don’t think about, though, is what those “goods” include; sometimes, it includes their “money-makers”.

Hey, talent is great, but it’s not the only thing celebrities need to become successful – they need their good looks, too. One celebrity who’s been rumored to have insured a body part is Jennifer Lopez. Did she really insure her butt for millions of dollars?

Jennifer Lopez is a quadruple threat

Lopez, adoringly referred to by fans as J.Lo, is one of the world’s most famous superstars. She’s a quadruple threat and has proven her talent in acting, singing, dancing, and designing. She’s been in the biz for decades now, but she isn’t going anywhere soon; Jenny from the Block is unstoppable.

Lopez first reached the heights of fame when she starred as Tejana singer Selena Quintanilla in her 1997 biopic, Selena. You’d think that anyone who tried to portray La Reina de Tex-Mex would fall short to the late singer’s brilliance, but Lopez shone in the role.

She soon was being picked up to star in other movies ranging from action films (Anaconda) to rom-coms (The Wedding Planner), and she released her first album, ‘On the 6’, in 1999. The album was a huge hit and included singles like ‘If You Had My Love’ and ‘Waiting For Tonight’.

These days, Lopez is just as unstoppable as ever, and looks even more toned and beautiful in her 50s than she did in her 20s. She showed off her toned physique earlier this year in the Super Bowl’s halftime performance, where she performed in a skin-tight costume with fellow Latino artists like Shakira and Bad Bunny.

While Kim Kardashian West is often credited for making the butt popular, Lopez has been embracing her curves for far longer. In fact, she’s been known for her backside, which makes the rumor of her insuring her butt believable. So did she really get her butt insured for a whopping $27 million?

Although that rumor lingered on for many years, Lopez denied it in an appearance in James Corden’s popular Carpool Karaoke, according to BestLife. She told the charming host: “There is no such thing as that.”

It seems like she’s not too insulted by the rumor, though, and found a way to laugh about it. She joked on the show about what the point of such an insurance policy would be. “Something happens to it? It disappears? Somebody steals it?” she asked rhetorically.

The final answer: No, Lopez does not have her butt insured for any amount of money, much less $27 million.

Celebrities who actually do have body parts insured

The rumor isn’t so crazy; it turns out that some celebrities have chosen to get their valuable and beautiful body parts insured! Dolly Parton has her famously ballooning bosom insured for $300,000 each; former Playboy Playmate Holly Madison has had the same body part insured for a whopping $1 million. We suppose that makes sense; these ladies are known, to a certain extent, for their breasts. Julia Roberts has allegedly had her million-dollar smile insured for $30 million.

Some artists have had their body parts insured because of their ability to make music rather than because of their aesthetics. For example, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has had his string-picking fingers insured for $1.6 million, and rock-and-roller Bruce Springsteen’s vocal chords are insured for $6 million. It’s not so odd for celebrities to have their literal “money-makers” insured, but it turns out that Lopez is one of the few that hasn’t.
