Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith “broke up” within their marriage once, explains Jada Pinkett; however, “divorce was never an option,” according to the actress herself, and as reported by E News. During a teaser for the upcoming episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett explained that she and Will Smith are often questioned about their marriage, specifically on whether either of them has cheated on the other.

Jada Pinkett Smith explained that while there has never been a case of sexual infidelity in her relationship with Will, she has cheated on someone in the past. In the teaser, she explains what she learned from the choice.

In the teaser for the next episode of Red Table Talk, Jada Pinkett stated, “I have to tell you: Me cheating on someone was more devastating than me being cheated on,” which she explains to her mother and co-star Adrienne Banfield-Norris. Jada Pinkett goes on to state:

“It actually taught me to forgive when I got cheated on because I understood. And what I understood most was it didn’t have anything to do with me.”

From experience being the victim and the perpetrator involved in a cheating scandal, Jada Pinkett has come to understand what exists at the core of a cheat, and will likely delve further into her take on cheating and extra-marital affairs in the upcoming episode.

While Jada Pinkett Smith is not referring to Will Smith in the quote above, it’s clear that Jada Pinkett’s history is marked by infidelity on both sides. While stating that Will Smith never betrayed her in the traditional sense of the word, she goes on to state that he did commit “betrayals of the heart.”

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith tied the knot in 1997, making them one of Hollywood’s most long-lasting couples. With 22 years of marriage under their belts, they’ve had their fair share of ups and downs, all of which have made their way into the tabloids.

Despite the widespread assumption that the two have physically cheated on one another and that they engage in an open relationship, Jada Pinkett Smith assures fans that Will Smith never cheated on her (in the way most people view cheating).

Jada Pinkett Smith stated that, in her relationship with Will, there have been “other betrayals of the heart that have been far bigger than I could ever think in regards to an infidelity situation.” So, did Will Smith emotionally cheat on Jada Pinkett? Did he fall in love with someone else, yet never act? While we cannot be certain, “betrayal of the heart” often imply “neglect” or “indifference.” as couples therapist Esther Perel explains, according to E-News.

In her life, Jada Pinkett has been cheated on, has cheated on someone else, and has experienced emotional betrayal; however, she can sit on Red Table Talk and openly discuss her life, including all of the hurdles – and the pieces filled with the darkness – she has had to overcome. Her level of bravery is inspiring, and, rather than dwelling on the past, it’s clear that she uses it to fuel growth.
