Those who follow Jill Duggar know she’s notoriously on the outs with her famous family. At the end of 2019, fans noticed Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, didn’t appear to hang out with Jill’s side of the family for the holidays. And the two haven’t taken part in Counting On in years.

Now, both Jill and Derick are speaking out about the alleged feud. And it seems Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar finally made a statement of their own, too.

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard stepped away from ‘Counting On’

It’s Jim Bob and Michelle’s older kids who are stealing the Counting On spotlight now. Unfortunately for fans, not every Duggar is featured on the show. And controversy ensued when Jill and Derick stepped away from Counting On years ago.

According to Jill and Derick, they decided to leave the show for themselves. But TLC has stated they were the ones to fire Derick after Derick unleashed a series of transphobic tweets.

“We left the show three years ago now because, basically, our family goals that we had for ourselves didn’t align with what we found out … we ended up finding out that we didn’t have as much control over our lives as it related to the show,” Jill told her followers in a YouTube Q&A video. “We had to make a decision at that time to put the show aside to pursue our own goals.”

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar said they hope they can ‘restore’ their relationship with Jill

Not only has Jill spoken to her fans via YouTube Q&A sessions, but she also talked to People about her relationship with the show and how it impacted her standing with her family.

Jill explained she and Derick had goals with her family that were in conflict with what TLC wanted. “Our control to choose what jobs we were allowed to accept and even where we were allowed to live was taken away from us,” Jill told People. And Derick further explained that he and Jill hit several “dead ends” with TLC when they couldn’t compromise.

As for the other Duggars, Jill said her decision to leave the show “didn’t go over well with anyone.” But Jim Bob and Michelle provided their own statement to the publication.

“Every family has differences of opinion and perspective at times, but families work things out,” the parents noted. “We all love Jill, Derick, and their boys very much. It is our prayer that our relationship is healed and fully restored quickly!”

While Jim Bob and Michelle might be hoping for a “fully restored” relationship with Jill and Derick, that might be easier said than done. Prior to Jill talking about her standing with her family, Derick spilled major tea to other news outlets and publications. And he’s even talked about writing a tell-all book to discuss his marriage with Jill.

Derick discussed his idea for a tell-all book with The Sun. He noted the book would mainly focus on his marriage journey and all of the difficulties he and Jill had experienced. And we’re fully anticipating that he might expose some Duggar secrets since he doesn’t appear to be on good terms with the family.

Will Jim Bob and Michelle come out with an additional statement if Derick releases a book? We’ll have to wait and see!
