Keanu Reeves’ Ageless Appearance Would Have Made Him Perfect for This Movie, the Internet Agrees

New installments in the Bill and Ted, The Matrix, and John Wick franchises are on the way. And the internet is abuzz with rumors a Constantine sequel could follow. In short, it’s a most excellent time for to be a Keanu Reeves fan. Yet, for as much as Reeves is staying busy, the internet — and one of his most famous co-stars — think he missed out on one movie role.

Fans have long noticed how Keanu Reeves ages remarkably well

In addition to his big-screen work, Reeves is known by fans for his youthful appearance. The actor made his feature debut in 1986’s Youngblood — no relation to the 5 Seconds of Summer hit — and has remained consistently busy ever since. Now 55 years old, he seems to be as active and energetic as ever. Reeves is completely capable of still playing a superhero, for instance.

In fact, the internet has continually joked about whether Reeves is immortal. More than 30 years have passed since Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. And the actor looks remarkably similar to the early days of his career. Unfortunately, Reeves has never really had the chance to leverage his ageless appearance in a role, having recently missed his chance.

Even Charlize Theron concedes he should have starred in this movie

In particular, fans believe Reeves should have appeared in the 2020 Netflix movie The Old Guard. In that film, Charlize Theron leads a group of immortal warriors. A fan recently shared a playful collage of Reeves photos, implying he never ages, calling out how perfect he would have been in The Old Guard. And Theron agreed, retweeting the post with her own message.

“Honestly though living forever would be MUCH easier with Keanu around,” Theron said, including a GIF of her and Reeves in 1997 thriller The Devil’s Advocate. The pair also starred in the 2001 romantic drama Sweet November and remain close friends.

By all accounts, Netflix will likely pursue a sequel to The Old Guard. Theron has said she wants Rihanna to pop up in the follow-up. And if the movie does happen, maybe Reeves can show up in that film too. Of course, this isn’t the Reeves-Theron reunion fans are hoping for.

Could Reeves and Theron reunite for an epic action movie?

After all, Theron stars in the 2017 action-thriller Atomic Blonde. That movie — a sequel to which will be a Netflix release — features much of the same crew as John Wick. So fans of those two franchises hope Reeves’ and Theron’s respective characters could cross paths in a kinetic action epic.

As of now, there’s no reason to think Reeves’ John Wick and Theron’s Lorraine Broughton will share the screen anytime soon. But the two stars remain in touch and interested in the idea. Whatever the case may be, fans have plenty to look forward to from Reeves and Theron in the near future.
