On screen he might play the tough guy in movies such as The Matrix and John Wick. But it’s clear to Keanu Reeves fans that the actor is a big old softie. Over the years, the actor has gained a reputation for being humble and gracious with fans. But at the apex of his career revival, Reeves was shocked to learn just how much his fans adore him.

Upcoming Keanu Reeves’ movies include more ‘Matrix,’ ‘John Wick’

Reeves, of course, is no stranger to Hollywood. He broke onto the scene in the mid-1980s. And from 1989 to 1999, he headlined hits such as Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure (and its first sequel), Point Break, My Own Private Idaho, Speed, The Devil’s Advocate, and The Matrix. That last one led to two sequels — both released in 2003 — and remains Reeves’ most iconic role.

Since John Wick kickstarted a new age of Reeves’ career in 2014, he’s been plenty busy. That action series continues to grow more popular with each installment. And the success of the John Wick franchise inspired the long-awaited conclusion of the Bill and Ted trilogy. Next up for Reeves? 2021’s The Matrix 4, followed by at least two more John Wick sequels.

The actor was surprised to learn just how much his fans love him

The first John Wick might have reawakened Reeves’ massive fan base. But 2019’s John Wick: Chapter 3 — Parabellum was part of the actor’s biggest year in a long while. Along with that action sequel, Reeves appeared in Toy Story 4 and Netflix comedy Always Be My Maybe. At the premiere for Toy Story 4, PeopleTV informed Reeves he’d become “the internet’s boyfriend.”

“I’ve been what? That’s wacky. … [But] the positivity’s great. It was really special how John Wick was embraced, and working on Always Be My Maybe, great. Ali Wong, Randall Park, just really wonderful artists and people, and it was just really cool to get a chance to play with them.”

Reeves knows all too well how surreal being in the spotlight can be. So his initial reaction in calling the online moniker “wacky” is justified. Then, of course, the actor recovers by recognizing the love behind fans’ enthusiasm for him and his work. And in true Reeves fashion, he even shout-outs not only fans but his recent co-stars in Always Be My Maybe.

Is Keanu Reeves in a relationship in 2021?

Online fans might want to lay claim to Reeves. But he’s only “the internet’s boyfriend” in name only. As his friend and former co-star Sandra Bullock said, the actor doesn’t exactly need help in the romance department. In fact, 2019 was memorable in another way, as that November he opened up about his love life.

Reeves is currently dating visual artist Alexandra Grant. The timeline of their relationship isn’t particularly clear due to their desire for privacy. But Reeves and Grant have collaborated on a variety of creative projects over the years. So more than likely, they were longtime friends before their relationship evolved.
