Loki is the newest Marvel series streaming on Disney+, and for fans, it is probably the best one yet.

The series, which takes place after the events depicted in The Avengers, follows the God of Mischief, played by Tom Hiddleston, as he struggles to deal with the Time Variance Authority, a long-established Marvel group that manages the flow of time. With the series shrouded in mystery, even as fans wait for the next installment, many Marvel aficionados are taking to Reddit to discuss some of the show’s major plot points, including one theory that could serve to shake up the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Is the TVA in ‘Loki’ actually the Quantum Realm?

The Time Variance Authority, also known as the TVA, has been a part of the Marvel Comics for some time, but was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Loki. The organization seems to exist outside of time and space, and is solely responsible for managing a strict timeline. Those who threaten the proper flow of time are referred to as “variants,” and are dealt with harshly. Loki, the God of Mischief himself, becomes a variant when he takes the Tesseract.

As mysterious as the TVA is, many fans are convinced that it will be shown to be part of another mystical Marvel location. In a recent Reddit thread, fans discussed whether the TVA could actually be a part of the Quantum Realm, an amalgam of the Quantum Zone and the Microverse. “TVA is basically a place that is not affected by regular flow of time. They could go to different timelines and come back as they please. Could this mean they are inside Quantum realm?” the original Reddit poster asked.

Fans chimed in, noting that this could very well be possible, with some caveats: “I believe that the TVA Is definitely outside of the main universe, similar to your thoughts, but pretty sure that city in the Quantum realm will be Chronopolis and will be shown in Quantimania,” one fan wrote. Another noted “Time works differently in the TVA. Time passes differently in the Quantum Realm. I would be surprised if the TVA wasn’t in the QR tbh.”

Although only a few episodes of Loki have dropped on Disney+, fans have already gotten some intriguing glimpses of the TVA and what future episodes could hold.

Even Tom Hiddleston has hinted at the fact that there could be a major villain reveal in Loki, with the actor admitting that “seeing him (Loki) come up against more formidable opponents, the like of which he has never seen or known…I wish I could tell you what happens, but I can’t.”

One of the biggest fan theories surrounding Loki is concerning a brand-new character, a yet-unnamed blonde woman who seems to be as mysterious and magical as Loki himself. While some fans think that the woman will turn out to be Lady Loki, a female version of Loki who is intent on creating chaos in multiple timelines, others believe that she is the series’ big villain, an Asgardian sorceress known as the Enchantress. Reportedly, the character is credited as Sylvie Lushton in the Spanish-language version of Loki, which was the name that the Enchantress used before she became a villain.
