TL; DR:

  • A special episode of Married at First Sight airs Wednesday, March 23 on Lifetime.
  • The Journey So Far special recaps the first half of season 14 and features a sneak peek at upcoming epsides.
  • Some fans are disappointed there won’t be a new episode of MAFS.

From Chris and Alyssa’s breakup to Olajuwon’s outburst over a dating app, Married at First Sight Season 14 has definitely delivered the drama. With the latest season of the Lifetime reality series having reached its halfway point, it’s time to pause and take stock. Rather than airing an all-new episode on Wednesday, March 23, a special recap episode will highlight some of the most shocking moments fans have seen so far this season and offer a preview of what’s to come.

‘Married at First Sight’ plans a special episode for March 23

Married at First Sight fans tuning in on March 23 hoping to see what happened after Katina and Olajuwon’s fight last week or whether Jasmina and Michael have figured out their communication issues will be disappointed. Instead of a regular episode featuring footage of the couples working through their many issues, they’ll get a special recap episode: The Journey So Far: Boston Special.

In the episode, which airs at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime, MAFS host Kevin Frazier sits down with the show’s three relationship experts – Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Dr. Viviana Coles, and Pastor Cal Roberson – to discuss where things stand with the couples as they head into the second month of the process. Viewers will hear their Decision Day predictions and get a sneak peek at some of the drama to come in upcoming episodes.

One season 14 couple has already called it quits

While the Married at First Sight experts will share their thoughts on which of season 14’s couples will stay together, fans already know what the future holds for two of the show’s participants.

The ill-matched Chris and Alyssa were never able to get their relationship off the ground, due in large part to Alyssa’s refusal to engage with her husband. Shortly after they returned from their honeymoon in Puerto Rico, Chris announced that he wanted a divorce.

As for the other four couples, it’s anyone’s guess who will decide to remain married on Decision Day. All have had their share of conflicts since saying “I do” four weeks ago. It seems possible that season 14 could end up being a repeat for season 13. Though two of that season’s five couples agreed to stay married on Decision Day, that number was down to one by the time the show’s reunion episode aired. Not long after, Jose and Rachel, who were the only couple still together from the Houston season, announced their split.

Some ‘Married at First Sight’ fans would prefer to skip the recap episode

Mid-season specials are nothing new for Married at First Sight, but that doesn’t mean that they go over well with all fans. On Instagram, a number of viewers complained that they wouldn’t be getting a new episode on March 23.

“Guys, we really DO NOT want this! We want to see couples interact more with the experts,” one commented.

“We would just prefer a new episode please,” wrote another. “Stop with these specials.”

Married at First Sight: The Journey So Far airs Wednesday, March 23 at 8 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
