Marvel fans finally got some good news about the next Spider-Man.

The past several months have been notoriously difficult for everyone in the movie industry. From release dates being delayed to filming being halted, it seems as though everything has been on hold in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fans have been redirecting their attention to streaming services and television while waiting for normality to resume. Marvel has been especially feeling the pinch, with several major movies being delayed. Still, Tom Holland recently opened up about the upcoming Spider-Man 3 movie, and what he said has been giving fans hope for brighter days ahead.

Tom Holland rose to fame as ‘Spider-Man’

Tom Holland was born in England in 1996. He developed an early interest in the entertainment industry and began working in theater productions. His skills at dancing and gymnastics led him to a meaty role in the musical Billy Elliot, and in 2008, Holland began his lengthy association with the musical. In 2011, Holland transitioned to films, lending his voice to the animated movie Arrietty. Over the next several years, Holland appeared in several movies, including The Impossible, opposite Ewan McGregor.

In 2015, Tom Holland made headlines around the world when Marvel announced Holland would be the next Spider-Man. He made his first appearance as the web-slinging superhero in 2016, in the film Captain America: Civil War. The following year, Holland took the lead in Spider-Man: Homecoming. He received rave reviews from critics and fans and has been given the nod as one of the best actors to don the mantle of Spider-Man. He has reprised the role in several additional films, including Spider-Man: Far From Home

Marvel movies have suffered in recent months

At the beginning of the year, it would have seemed unfathomable that the film industry would shut down by the middle of spring. However, the COVID-19 pandemic began sweeping the globe in March 2020, causing incredible damage to many industries, including the entertainment business. Marvel Studios was no exception, and the studio was forced to delay the release of the big-budget blockbuster, Black Widow.

Other projects are on hold indefinitely, and with no hard stop date for the pandemic, there is no way for fans to know when they can start to expect regular entertainment from Marvel again. However, Tom Holland recently spoke out about the status of Spider-Man 3, a project that is shrouded in mystery, and it seems as though Marvel plans for business as usual come autumn.

After an initial shifting of release dates, Spider-Man 3 remains slated for theatrical release in November 2021. Beyond that, very little is known about the project, except for the fact that Holland will be reprising his role as Spider-Man, alongside Zendaya as MJ. With the coronavirus situation very much still in effect, fans have been worried that the November release date could be affected by delays in filming — still, Tom Holland has assured fans that, as far as he knows, everything is on track.

Recently, Holland revealed he is scheduled to start filming Spider-Man 3 this fall, as had been previously planned. Barring any unforeseen problems, the film will finish filming in February, just in time for the November 2021 release date.

Fans on Reddit reacted with excitement to the news, stating that “it’s crazy that we’re in such a drought, that info like this gets me hyped.” Although anything could happen within the next few weeks, it seems as though Marvel is putting enough safety measures in place in order to proceed with one of their most highly-anticipated films.
