Fans adore McCrory’s interpretation of Aunt Polly Gray. The fiercely loyal aunt in the Shelby family took care of the Shelby’s business dealings when Thomas Shelby and his brothers were fighting in World War I. Once they returned, Polly allowed Tommy to take over Shelby Company Limited once more — but she proved herself as Tommy’s greatest, most competent ally.
From the very beginning of Peaky Blinders, viewers learned a lot about Polly’s past. She had her kids taken from her, and her daughter died from an illness. Tommy then helped her find her son, Michael Gray — though he may regret that decision. Michael’s become quite close with the family business and hoped to bring business dealings to the U.S., but Tommy refused to allow him to do this. Their conflict is slated to become a major plot point in Peaky Blinders Season 6.
Polly eventually strikes a romantic relationship with Aberama Gold. Sadly, Aberama gets killed at the end of season 5. We have yet to see Polly’s reaction to his death.

While Aunt Polly Gray is the Shelby family aunt, she doesn’t appear too much older than her neices and nephews. So, hold is Polly, and how old will she be in Peaky Blinders Season 6?
According to the Wiki page for the character, Polly was born on Nov. 11, 1884. Peaky Blinders Season 1 begins right after World War I in 1919. This makes Polly 35 when we’re first introduced to her character. In season 2, she’s 38. By season 3, she’s 40. In season 4, she’s 42. By season 5, she’s 45.
Fans will likely see a time jump in season 6. Show creator Steven Knight noted he wants the series to end with the beginning of World War II, and the war begins in 1939. By the end of the season, Polly will be 55 years old.
So, what is Thomas Shelby’s age in comparison to Aunt Polly Gray’s? According to the Wiki, Tommy was born in 1890, putting him just six years younger than his aunt. Tommy was about 29 years old when the series began, and he’ll be nearly 50 years old when the series ends.

Will fans get to see Aunt Polly in Peaky Blinders Season 6? Unfortunately, McCrory died in April 2021 from cancer. The new season wrapped up filming in May 2021. There’s a good chance the film crew was able to capture a number of scenes with McCrory before she died, but there’s no guarantee.
Whether McCrory is in the new season or not, there’s no doubt she’ll be missed. Thomas Shelby actor Cillian Murphy talked about how much he enjoyed working with McCrory on set.
“She was my closest colleague on Peaky, and one of the finest actors I’ve ever worked opposite,” he explained to The Guardian. “Any material, any scene … she made it special. She could do power and vulnerability, one after the other. … I was kind of in awe about how she lived her life – the way she balanced her work and her family so beautifully.”
