Thomas Shelby fans can’t wait to see the stunning conclusion of his character arc in Peaky Blinders Season 6. So far, the TV show’s production team’s given fans bits and pieces of information regarding what’s to come. And it looks like Sam Claflin, the actor who brought Oswald Mosley to life in season 5, will return. It looks like Claflin hopes his character will team up with Tom Hardy’s character, Alfie Solomons, too.

Sam Claflin will return in ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season 6 to play Oswald Mosley

Oswald Mosley proved to be a nemesis Tommy Shelby can’t quite defeat — and he’s returning for Peaky Blinders Season 6. In history, Mosley was a British politician who then led the British Union of Fascists. In the show, Tommy’s trusted sister, Ada Shelby, warned Tommy of Mosley’s fascist tendencies. Tommy ultimately decided he’d get his World War II buddy, Barney Thompson, to assassinate Mosley via sniper. But Tommy’s plan was foiled, Barney was killed, and Mosley walked free without a scratch.

“He’s a character that, really, I had no judgment about, because I didn’t know who he was prior to these scripts,” Claflin told the BUILD series in regards to playing Mosley. “I obviously then started doing the research and started making my own mind up, but the scripts were really what informed me of how to play him. … I think we kind of had a bit of artistic license to kind of go our own way with it, to an extent.”

In terms of the new season, Claflin noted there are “very exciting” surprises he can’t talk about yet.

Fans love Alfie Solomons, the Jewish gang leader who at times has worked for and against the Shelbys. In season 4, Tommy shot Alfie after realizing Alfie betrayed him. But Alfie lived through it — and he shows up at the end of season 5, blind in his left eye from where Tommy shot him.

So, what will happen to Alfie in Peaky Blinders Season 6? It looks like Claflin hopes his character and Hardy’s character will actually get together despite their differences.

“I remember one thing that Steven [Knight] did mention to me was the thought of this Jew-hater and a Jew combining would be quite an interesting match up,” Claflin said, according to Express.co.uk. “But whether that ever happens, I don’t know.”

Director Anthony Byrne noted he agreed with creator Steven Knight’s possible idea. “I feel like it should,” he added.
