With the Fox/Disney merger placing the X-Men and the Fantastic Four under Kevin Feige’s care, it’s only a matter of time until the familiar faces join the existing Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While introductions remain fiercely contested and debated — with different theories and leaks consistently surfacing — Marvel Studios is always in it for the long haul. Thus, what will come after the Fantastic Four’s introduction is reportedly already a part of the conversation.

According to a recent report by Marvel Insider Mikey Sutton (of Geekosity: All Things Pop Culture), conversations surrounding the Fantastic Four, and their second outing as part of the MCU, have already begun to take place. So, what’s the plan for the beloved family of explorers?

The Fantastic Four vs. Black Bolt

Sutton explains that the second Fantastic Four film — which is likely no less than two Phases away – will follow Sue and Johnny Storm, Reed Richards, and Ben Grimm into a hidden city in the Himalayas. Upon arriving, Black Bolt will launch a fierce attack on their ship, forcing Sue Storm to envelop her loved ones in a force field, and initiating a battle-fueled saga. Sutton explained:

When a group of explorers rocket into his hidden city in the Himalayas, Black Bolt launches a ferocious attack on the ship’s crew, the Fantastic Four. Reed Richards and his wife Sue; her brother Johnny Storm; and Reed’s best friend Ben Grimm, find themselves in the cockpit of an exploding jet. Sue quickly envelops her family with a force field to protect them, but they quickly adapt into action. Johnny flames on, his body on fire as he soars down to fight the surprised enemy below.

While Black Bolt would struggle to take on the Fantastic Four alone, he has a family capable of wreaking havoc, and they plan to do just that.

The Fantastic Four could bring Marvel’s Royal Family into the MCU

While Marvel TV once tried to bring The Inhumans to life, the minimal budget was not up to par with what these characters require, and the MCU has all the money in the world to get it right this time around. The Inhumans will not be dead on arrival when they join the existing cinematic landscape. So, who’s coming as part of the team? Sutton shared:

But Blackagar Boltagon is not alone. He has a family of his own, a Royal one. Medusa; Crystal; Gorgon; and Triton. All in full costume, in their Jack Kirby glory. Marvel TV once attempted a no-budget take on the Inhumans. It went nowhere, fizzling fast. The current plan is to recast and reboot the Royal Family; all the build-up from Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will finally pay off.
