Power Book II: Ghost may be on a break, but actors Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo have more in store for fans. The actors, who star on the TV show as Tariq St. Patrick and Brayden Weston respectively, have launched a podcast together called The Crew Has It, where they discuss the series and other exciting topics. The first episode launched in April and in honor of that, Rainey and Paolo got a special gift from two (famous) peers.

The podcast is the first project from Rainey and Paolo’s production company, Twenty Two Entertainment. Deadline reports the company was formed this year and has received funding from Artists For Artists. That’s a company owned by Kenan Thompson and John Ryan Jr.

In honor of the podcast’s launch, Thompson and Ryan apparently surprised Rainey and Paolo by gifting them with Gucci back bags. They appear to retail for around $2,500 on the Gucci website. “Shoutout to John and Kenan. They pulled up on the boys [with] first-day gifts,” Rainey said around the 2:10 mark on the first episode of The Crew Has It, showing off the bags. “So we’re excited, man,” Paolo added. “We’re super excited.”

Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo’s podcast is about The Power Universe and more

Paolo went on to explain what fans can expect to see from him and Rainey on the show.

“Basically what the podcast is gonna be is a lot of Power Universe,” said Paolo. “Yes, we’re gonna be bringing back your favorite characters from the OG [series], from Raising Kanan, from Force. Everybody from everywhere,” Rainey added.

“We have some crazy guests coming in from the OG Power, like fan-favorites, so it’s gonna be so dope. We got obviously a lot of people from Ghost coming in ’cause that’s the best one,” Paolo continued, laughing. “So yeah. What we’re gonna do is, when the next episodes come out — I think Raising Kanan is next — we’ll recap the episodes for you guys. We’ll have fan questions come in … [and] we’re gonna have so much [where] we’ll be interacting with fans. … So we’re super, super excited.”

The two currently lead Power Book II: Ghost, which follows the journey of Tariq St. Patrick (Rainey) after his father Ghost’s death in Power. In order to receive his inheritance, Tariq has to receive a college degree, leading him to enroll in the prestigious Stansfield University. But when money becomes an issue, he turns to drug dealing just like his father. He works alongside his best friend Brayden Weston (Paolo) and former classmate Effie Morales (Alix Lapri).

‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3 is now in the works

The latest season of Ghost concluded in February with a major twist as Detective Blanca Rodriguez returned to investigate Mecca’s death. As viewers know, he was murdered by Monet Tejada. However, Blanca believes Tariq did it after he was spotted near Mecca’s penthouse around the time of his death.

“She is definitely going to try to get Tariq,” Power boss Courtney Kemp told Entertainment Weekly of Blanca. “And, as our law enforcement ranks shrink in the show, it is always interesting to have characters that the audience has a long history with. The audience is going to have very strong opinions about what Blanca decides to do in season 3 and how she plans to attack Tariq.”

No release date for Power Book II: Ghost Season 3 has been shared, but Starz has said that it’s “coming soon.” Find the first seasons of the show now on Starz.
