‘RHOBH’: Kyle Richards Reveals Mauricio Umansky Gave Her Daughter Farrah 1 Sweet Gift During Their Marriage Proposal
Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky are a famous couple on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The pair have been married for 25 years, and Richards and Umansky recently opened up about their journey to marriage. Richards even shared a sweet story of Umansky including her daughter, Farrah, into their proposal.
How did Mauricio Umansky propose to Kyle Richards?
As the couple told The Knot, Richards and Umansky fell in love after meeting at a nightclub. They bonded over their “same interests and common goals.”
When Richards and Umansky wanted to take their relationship further, Umansky crafted a proposal at the restaurant Shutters in Santa Monica.
“I took her to Shutters on a date, and I gave her a bouquet of flowers. And it was a very pretty, romantic evening and inside the flowers I had [a ring box that looked like a rosebud],” Umansky explained. “So I gave her the flowers hoping she would see the fake flower or box. Of course she didn’t because it was such a good box. So I had to tell her, ‘Honey, smell the flowers, like, do they all smell the same?’”
When Richards finally saw the box, she opened it and discovered a ring inside. This was when Umansky got down on one knee and proposed.
“I was just so happy and excited—it was a dream for me,” Richards said. “The moment we started dating, I just felt like he was the one. “

When Richards met Umansky, she was already a mother to daughter Farrah Aldjufrie. Farrah was born in 1988 when Richards was still married to her ex-husband, Guraish Aldjufrie.
When Umansky proposed to Richards, he made sure to not leave Farrah out. The real estate broker also gave Farrah a sweet gift.
“When my husband asked me to marry him, he also gave Farrah a little ‘engagement ring’ that was a heart with two hands holding it,” Richards revealed.
Umansky added, “That’s right, I had to ask her to marry me too!”
Richards shared that Umansky and Farrah had a great relationship. She explained, “Oh my goodness, she was just so in love with [Mauricio]. Every night we would all lay in bed and she would suck her thumb and rub his ear with her other little hand like he was her blankie!”

Richards and Umansky got married in January 1996. The couple was actually supposed to wed in April of that year. However, Richards revealed they changed the wedding date “so my dress would still fit, because I was pregnant.”
Richards gave birth to their daughter Alexia in June 1996. They welcomed two more daughters in the coming years: Sophia (born 2000) and Portia (born 2008).
Richards and Umansky are known as one of the strongest couples on RHOBH. They shared with The Knot that they try to spend time together, partaking in shared hobbies or escaping to their “sanctuary” in Aspen, Colorado.
“I think the difficulties we’ve gone through on the show—and I know it sounds like a cliché—but it’s made us stronger,” Richards said. “And it’s crazy to think you could say that about a reality show. But when you’ve been tested over time, you either cave and you lose, or you win and come out on top. And we definitely ended up being stronger from being tested.”
