More than a year after its release, fans are still obsessing over Avengers: Endgame. The movie proved to be the biggest hit so far for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And part of its success is owed to how it handles the exits of Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.). Now both actors are making news for their responses to a real-life hero.

A young Marvel fan proved himself a real-life hero

Young Bridger Walker made headlines recently when he suffered serious injuries while protecting his little sister from a dog attack. After the incident, his aunt took to social media to reach out to some of Walker’s favorite MCU stars for support.

Several celebrities have personally reached out to Walker, sending messages of pride, love, and support. One such sentiment came from Evans, who sent a video to Walker. The Captain America star even promised to send the boy an “authentic” shield like the one he used in the films.

Robert Downey Jr. followed his co-star in offering his praise

Of course, Evans wasn’t the only MCU star to step up. In fact, Downey himself soon followed Evans’ video message with one of his own. And the actor didn’t disappoint, offering his support in a way that feels true to not only his own persona but also his MCU character.

Bridger, you’re a rock star. My name’s Robert Downey Jr. I play Tony. That makes me an old friend of Cap’s. I heard he sent a shield your way. I’m going to do one better. You call me on your next birthday. I got something special for you. Late. By the way – that’s a promise; a promise beats a shield.

As co-leaders of the Avengers, Iron Man and Captain America always maintained a bit of a rivalry. So it’s notable that Downey tapped into Tony Stark in his support of Walker, promising to beat Evans’ message. Off-screen, of course, Downey has only good things to say about his co-star.

Which other MCU stars have reached out to Bridger Walker?

Evans and Downey aren’t the only stars who took the time out to reach out to Walker, however. Their MCU co-stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, and Tom Holland have all reached out to the young boy. In fact, Holland even personally invited him to visit the set of Spider-Man 3.

As Walker’s story continues to go viral, the young hero likely can count on hearing from other Marvel heroes. Certainly, his actions serve as a sweet reminder that heroes come in all forms. And the outpouring of love from the biggest superheroes in Hollywood certainly is a testament to that.
