Rotten Tomatoes audiences declare ‘Shang-Chi’ the best Marvel Studios film

There are two different ways films and television shows are rated on Rotten Tomatoes — the Tomatometer (which is critics’ score) and the Audience Score. For Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, both scores on the site are fantastic. But it’s the Audience Score that makes the film really stand out.

According to ComicBook.com, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings currently, on Sept. 8, 2021, has an impressive Audience Score of 98%. Its Tomatometer is at 93%. Meanwhile, the next best Audience Score for a Marvel Studios film is 95% for Spider-Man: Far From Home. Following the second Spider-Man movie are Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, both at 92%.

Given the fact that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been out for less than a week means that its score could change. But we highly doubt that the film would drop multiple percentage points.

At the end of the day, a film’s success is determined by fans and audiences worldwide. A movie could get blasted by critics, but if people are paying money to go and see it, it’s a success. Thankfully, for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, it has been regarded highly by both critics and fans.

‘Shang-Chi’ has shattered box office records

Further proving that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has been a success, the film broke many box office records for its opening weekend.

Labor Day weekend has been notorious not to be a great time to put out a movie. Plus, it doesn’t help that we are still in a pandemic. But Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings exceeded expectations by making an estimated $127.6 million worldwide. The only other film that made more in its first weekend in theaters in 2021 was Black Widow, with a global total of $158 million.

But considering that Shang-Chi is a new character in the MCU whereas Natasha Romanoff has been around for years now, we’ll say that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ box office numbers are fantastic.

So, what’s all the fuss about?

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings tells the origin story of Shang-Chi and how he must confront his past in order to protect his family from the mysterious Ten Rings organization.

The film is full of intense, beautifully crafted fight sequences, outrageous special effects, heart, and wonderful surprises. Its characters, including Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Awkwafina as Katy, and Meng’er Zhang as Xu Xialing, are deeply thought out and easy to love. It’s understandable why audiences, especially longtime Marvel fans, love the movie.
