The fight for the AllStone in Supergirl is just getting started. Nyxly has threatened National City ever since she hitched a ride with the Super Friends out of the Phantom Zone. Somehow the Fifth-Dimensional imp then got stuck in the dream realm. Unfortunately, Nia got tricked by Nyxly and released the imp into National City. And now, she’s in search of the seven totems that make up the AllStone. This power would then allow Nyxly to wield control over the entirety of the universe. So, the Super Friends need a win, and, hopefully, that comes in Supergirl Season 6 Episode 13.

What happened in episode 12?

The previous hour, Supergirl Season 6 Episode 12, “Blind Spots,” was all about Kelly and her finally becoming Guardian. It was an emotional hour that was one of the best episodes that Supergirl has ever produced. And a part of what made “Blind Spots” so special was because Azie Tesfai, who plays Kelly, co-wrote the episode.

While Kara, Alex, and the rest of the Super Friends were focused on finding and defeating Nyxly, Kelly was more concerned with the people who were hurt from the Ormfell building explosion. Kelly tried to get the others to help her, but they just wouldn’t listen. After a couple of emotional talks about blind spots regarding racial issues, Kelly was finally heard by her loved ones. She suited up as Guardian for the first time, and she and her teammates brought peace to the Ormfell people.

Hopefully, the fight for the people in the Heights will continue onscreen in Supergirl Season 6 Episode 13. Though the Super Friends still have to fight Nyxly, it would be nice to make good on their promise to Kelly. They need to help the people of National City as much as they need to defeat supervillains.

What the synopsis and trailer tell us about ‘Supergirl’ Season 6 Episode 13

Per ComicBook.com, the synopsis for Supergirl Season 6 Episode 13, “The Gauntlet,” reads, “Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) and team race Nyxly (Peta Sergeant) for control of a magical totem that controls courage. Supergirl and Nyxly battle and each get a piece of the totem but learn the first person to pass the test of courage will gain control of the entire thing. Meanwhile, Lena (Katie McGrath) is still struggling to make sense of her newfound gift. The episode was directed by Tawnia McKiernan with story by Dana Horgan and teleplay by Jay Faerber & Brooke Pohl.”

The Super Friends fight a dragon and talk about courage in the trailer, which you can view below. Perhaps the Courage Totem is connected to the dragon. Or, maybe the dragon is the totem. Whatever the case may be, Supergirl Season 6 Episode 13 looks to be an odd and goofy hour of television. The tone of the upcoming episode will definitely diverge from its predecessor.

Will Nyxly acquire the first totem in ‘Supergirl’?

If there were a Supergirl award for courage, it would go to the Girl of Steel herself. And that’s exactly what sounds like will happen after Kara and Nyxly each get a piece of the Courage Totem. It seems unfathomable that Kara would not gain control of the totem in the end. But since there’s a Fifth-Dimensional imp involved, it’s safe to say that there will be a few twists in the episode. Nyxly may trick the totem into choosing her.

Kara and the rest of the Super Friends have to fail before they can succeed, though. And there’s no doubt that Nyxly will get defeated by the time the series finale rolls around. All we can do right now is speculate about what will happen in the episode.

Supergirl Season 6 Episode 13 airs Sept. 28 at 9/8c on The CW.
