Survivor Season 41 is full of twists, turns, and unexpected surprises that make gameplay harder than ever. The 26-day season is throwing fans and cast members for a loop. And host Jeff Probst explains fans haven’t seen it all yet. Additionally, he noted he has another idea for a potential future twist that could bring eliminated players back into the game — and it’s not the Edge of Extinction twist.

‘Survivor’ Season 41 Episode 6 introduced a brand new twist to the game

Survivor Season 41 Episode 6 was jam-packed with twists — so much so that the episode didn’t have time to feature Tribal Council and the elimination of a player. The remaining players from all three starting tribes made it to the merge. But this merge came with an unexpected surprise.

The players had to draw rocks to compete in two teams to see which team would participate in the merge feast and move forward, and the losing team would have to head into an immunity challenge. Additionally, two players were left out. Erika ended up heading to a completely separate island where host Jeff Probst met up with her and offered her a game-changing decision.

Probst came prepared with an hourglass full of black sand. Erika had all night to choose whether she wanted to smash the hourglass and go back in time. Going back in time means the team who won the merge feast would lose their immunity, and the team who lost the merge challenge would earn immunity. Erika could completely flip the game on its head — but fans will have to wait until Survivor Season 41 Episode 7 to see what she chooses.

Jeff Probst talked about a potential new twist idea that brings back eliminated players

Prior to Survivor Season 41 premiering, Jeff Probst talked at length about how this season would be the most difficult yet. And it sounds like future seasons might see even more wild twists and turns from the executive producer. Probst spoke with Entertainment Weekly about one idea he had that would bring eliminated players back — but it’s not the Edge of Extinction he’s talking about.

“At the start of the game, all the players would be told that the first five players voted out will have one chance to get back in the game,” Probst explained. “When that day arrived, we’d march them back in, just like the beloved Edge of Extinction twist. We then explain that they will compete together as a tribe in one epic challenge against six random players still remaining in the game. If they win, one of them will ultimately earn their way back into the game.”

Probst then explained that the previously eliminated group of five would have to choose one more player who’s still in the game to join their Tribe in the competition. If the previously eliminated group of five plus their chosen player win, they’re all back in the game. But, if they lose, they leave for good — and that includes the player they chose to play with them.

Jeff Probst noted the eliminated players twist is a new “dangerous idea” he’s currently workshopping, so fans won’t see it in Survivor Season 41. But fans will continue to see twists and turns throughout the current season.

In the interview with Entertainment Weekly, Probst noted there’s yet another “big twist” toward the end of the game. And the rest of the season is full of amazing gameplay. “The back half of this season is just as strong as the first half!” he noted.

Survivor Season 41 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
