Survivor Season 42 is part two of the CBS reality competition show’s new era, which means it’s very similar to its predecessor. There are new twists, less food, and accelerated gameplay. But one thing that has slightly stayed the same is the edits of certain castaways that eagle-eyed fans always notice. And the edit of one tribe may spell trouble for them.

A fan catches an interesting detail about the Ika tribe in ‘Survivor’ Season 42

After the first episode aired on CBS, one fan started a Reddit thread that detailed things they noticed about the Survivor Season 42 edit. They began their predictions by saying, “All of Ika is dead in the water for me personally.”

“Half of them got the Survivor clown music while literally explaining their backstories and strategies, and it didn’t feel like we were meant to take them seriously,” the fan shared. “Also, seeing as though Ua [from Survivor Season 41] had the same thing of presenting all of its members on the first episode I feel like spells doom and gloom [for Ika], as they can use that to send all of them home with a basic introduction.”

They concluded, “I would be absolutely shocked if any of Ika won, especially since it’s looking like they’re losing the next challenge as well.” Taku ended up losing the second challenge, and Marya went home. However, other fans have shared the same concern about Ika.

After Ika went to Tribal Council in Survivor Season 42 and voted out Zach Wurtenberger, fans haven’t seen much of them in the following episodes. The invisible edit is just as worrisome as the “clown music” edit.

Which castaways are left in ‘Survivor’ Season 42?

After three episodes, only 14 castaways remain. The Ika tribe voted out Zach in the premiere. Jeff Probst medically evacuated Jackson Fox from Taku in episode 1. Taku lost the immunity challenge in the second episode, and they voted out Marya. And Jenny’s tribemates in Vati voted her out in episode 3.

Ika has five tribemates left — Rocksroy Bailey, Romeo Escobar, Swati Goel, Tori Meehan, and Drea Wheeler. Taku has four castaways remaining — Lindsay Dolashewich, Maryanne Oketch, Jonathan Young, and Omar Zaheer. And five people are left on Vati — Hai Giang, Chanelle Howell, Lydia Meredith, Daniel Strunk, and Mike Turner.

So one of these 14 castaways will take home the title of Sole Survivor in season 42. However, some fans believe that no one from Ika has a chance at winning.

Who has the best chance of winning the title of Sole Survivor?

According to the Reddit thread, the fan believes that a couple of contestants received good “winner edits” in the Survivor Season 42 premiere.

“Maryanne, Omar, and Lindsay … had the most interesting edits for different reasons,” they wrote. “Maryanne is probably my favorite to win. I could totally see them lean into her being [over the top] as a juxtaposition to last season. In addition to several references to ‘young women on Survivor‘ in the episode (which came up more than once by Lydia and Swati). [I don’t know], all the pieces fit for her to win.”

The fan added, “But Omar is basically guaranteed endgame … Omar kept getting randomly inserted into the episode, being the only narrator of Jackson leaving, having his job be a metaphor for Survivor, etc. Finally, [Lindsay’s edit was] weird because it was [under the radar]. But every time she was on screen, she was always correct, and it gave me Erika flashbacks.”

Of course, the Reddit thread only contains speculation. So fans will have to tune in to the rest of the season to discover if their suspicions are correct.

Survivor Season 42 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
