Last night’s The Bachelorette episode really brought the drama (again), which makes sense since it’s barreling toward an explosive episode next week. While Clare Crawley was spending all her time with Dale Moss, the other contestants got a bit annoyed. And in a scene with former Bachelorette DeAnna Pappas Stagliano, Crawley gushed about Dale. But fans found fault with another aspect of the scene. [Spoiler alert: Spoilers ahead for Week 3].

Dale Moss gave Clare Crawley his sweatpants and fans don’t like how she used them this episode

While Pappas Stagliano visited, Crawley couldn’t get over how she felt when she first saw Moss. Crawley talked about a feeling she got with him, and Pappas Stagliano agreed that she experienced something like that as well with her current husband.

But then Crawley brought in the gift Moss gave her last episode, when all the men on that group date had to rush to find something to gift. It was a pair of his sweatpants and Crawley really liked them. She sniffed them as well, and that’s kind of where fans lost it.

“Am I the only one that was really creeped out about the sweatpants?” Reddit user u/muslimmeow wrote after the episode. “She was literally hugging and sniffing them while the guys were waiting for their group date.”

They called it “odd” and that it might hint at her being “infatuated” with Moss rather than actually falling in love with him. They wrote that they aren’t in the camp that thinks Crawley spoke with Dale before the show, but there was definitely social media lurking that might have jumpstarted her interest in him.

“I really think she’s obsessed with how he looks and feels lol nothing really profound comes out of his mouth on camera so don’t get it,” they continued. “I get feeling super connected to certain people early on, but she felt that way instantly.”

Some fans took it a step further, saying Clare has some red flags

Crawley did find an attachment to Moss rather quickly and hasn’t really been questioned about it yet, from the men or from Chris Harrison. When she disappeared with Moss for 45 minutes or so, it didn’t seem like she and Moss had a lot of time to talk as they made out in her apartment. That’s normal at this stage, and editing is everything, but it’s interesting to see how much she feels connected to Moss right now as opposed to every other guy.

Other Reddit users agree with the pant-sniffing. One wrote, “I’m so glad I’m not the only one who noticed how weird that was” and another said, “That was creepy! My brain was going ewww the whole time. And I even think Dale is hot!”

Others saw Crawley’s behavior as unhelpful in her quest for love.

“It was so creepy and not healthy,” u/nickel4urthoughts wrote. “Like that’s the sort of obsessive sh*t that is a bachelor did everyone would be calling for his head on a platter. But no one bats and eye that she does that? Some possessive *ss sh*t.”

Reddit user u/ShineOn987 wrote that this might be a red flag on Crawley’s part.

“I think we’re all witnessing why Clare is single,” they wrote. “She is extremely needy, self-centered, and impulsive. And, canceling dates, and having the guys wait around for hours is completely rude. I hope she and Dale will live happily ever after, but there are many red flags in her behavior.”

That’s harsh, of course. Crawley is, however, very open about her interest in Dale. She constantly asked every member on the last group date about him before not giving anyone a rose.

Basically, this edit leaves something to be desired about Clare and Dale’s relationship

Again, a lot of fans really just don’t get how Dale and Clare are so into each other right now. If it came down to physically being attracted to each other, it makes sense. But Crawley also called Moss her fiancé at the end of the episode, which points to there needing to be more of a connection between them. And that’s not really evident yet.

“But the edit they have given her makes this very difficult to watch,” Reddit user u/gramskate said in another post. “For instance, we have never really seen an in-depth convo between Clare and Dale, we have only heard info on him from what he tells the guys. This could all be true or he could be telling them garbage.”

It is becoming increasingly obvious to the guys this season that Crawley has her sights on Moss and no one else at this point. At least not as seriously. And they’re starting to be very vocal about it. But, again, as with all reality TV shows, editing is key to what audiences think of someone.

“But the show is getting what it wants and she is providing the clips for the sensationalism,” the user wrote about her edit. “Gets more tawdry with each season.”
