‘The Bachelorette’ Star Jason Tartick Reveals What Makes His Relationship With Kaitlyn Bristowe Work, ‘We’ve Been Fortunate’
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick’s relationship is one of the few success stories of The Bachelor franchise. Although they didn’t exactly meet in a season of The Bachelorette, the coupling of Kaitlyn and Jason proves that relationships from reality shows can work. Jason recently discussed how he and Kaitlyn are still together despite busy schedules and being in the spotlight.
Why their relationship is a success, according to Jason
Many couples from The Bachelorette don’t stand the test of time, but that isn’t the case for Kaitlyn Bristowe and Jason Tartick.
Jason recently talked to Us Weekly about his relationship with Kaitlyn. He said, “I think it’s just communication. Kaitlyn has a ton of work going on and absolutely killing it, and I have work going on, and what’s fun is we just get to do the things we’ve always dreamed of doing and support each other while doing it.”
Jason continued, “We always check-in in the morning [and] we always say good night, FaceTimes, calls [and] texts. But we’ve been fortunate. Kaitlyn’s back from filming [The Bachelorette Season 18], and so we’ve been able to spend a lot of time together, which is fun.”
Communication and support are two necessities to make any relationship work. And it sounds like those two things are contributing to the longevity of Kaitlyn and Jason’s relationship that blossomed after their time in different seasons of The Bachelorette.
Kaitlyn was the Bachelorette in season 11, and Jason was a contestant in ‘The Bachelorette’ Season 14
Bachelor Nation was first introduced to Kaitlyn Bristowe in The Bachelor Season 19, where she came in third place. Then, the network announced that Kaitlyn would be one of the two leads in The Bachelorette Season 11 alongside Britt Nilsson. The men would have to choose on night one of the season which Bachelorette they wanted to continue with. And they decided on Kaitlyn. In the end, Shawn Booth proposed to Kaitlyn, and she accepted.
Later, Jason Tartick was a part of the cast of The Bachelorette Season 14 with Becca Kufrin. Jason ended up coming in third place, just like his future fiancé. In 2018, Kaitlyn announced her split from Shawn. And in 2019, news broke that Kaitlyn and Jason had started dating after he appeared on her podcast.
So, while Kaitlyn and Jason did not meet in the same season of The Bachelorette, their respective appearances in the show led them to one another.
Kaitlyn and Jason became engaged in May 2021
After more than a couple of years of dating, Jason proposed to the former The Bachelorette star in May 2021 while filming Kaitlyn’s podcast. Of course, she said yes.
At the time of the proposal, Jason shared his excitement with Us Weekly. He said, “It has been the best, like, two to three weeks of my life since [the proposal]. One of the things I really wanted to do was to surprise her. I know Kaitlyn loves to be surprised. And so, that was one of my true goals to genuinely surprise her. And her reaction was absolutely perfect. It was the most Kaitlyn reaction.”
The couple currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with their two golden retrievers. And as of Aug. 2021, The Bachelorette stars Kaitlyn and Jason have a wedding date set.
