[SPOILER ALERT: Possible spoilers ahead for The Challenge Season 37.]

Is ‘The Challenge’ renewed for season 37? Rumors abound

Will MTV’s The Challenge return for season 37? Season 36, Double Agents, was a huge success for the network — and it seems promising the show will return for yet another season.

According to the MTV rumor mill, season 37 is currently filming, though they ran into a few hiccups along the way. Rumors suggested production had to pause due to coronavirus (COVID-19) protocol. Production allegedly had to cease filming after the season started after either a member of the cast or crew contracted coronavirus. The season resumed filming after the pause and quarantining occurred.

Showrunner Emer Harkin explained the coronavirus protocol to Variety. “We basically treated our cast as one person: We had them all in quarantine and rigorously tested so we knew when they entered the cast house they were all healthy and well,” she stated.

As far as other rumors go, additional reports state the new theme will have American players teaming up with international players. This indicates a number of international rookies likely joined the cast.

MTV’s ‘The Challenge’ Season 37 cast is rumored to include this winner as a replacement

There are additional rumors regarding what went down with the coronavirus protocol on MTV’s The Challenge Season 37. According to the MTV Challenge Fandom page, Amber Borzotra was originally cast as an alternate on the season — but she made it to the final cast listing. They allegedly entered the cast after the second quarantine to replace a few of the cast members who went home.

While speculation brewed regarding what exactly happened with the temporary shutdown in production, the Fandom page shared more alleged insights. According to the page, a cast member contracted coronavirus after the first daily challenge, not a member of the crew. This, consequentially, exposed others in the house. Production allegedly resumed on May 5.

All in all, we’re happy to see Amber back in the house. She dominated Double Agents, her rookie season, and will surely reenter the game with newfound confidence.

And the returning men include Nelson Thomas, Nam Vo, Devin Walker, Fessy Shafaat, Josh Martinez, Cory Wharton, Kyle Christie, and CT Tamburello.

As stated before, a number of international rookies are slated to join the crew as well. Players from Turkey, Romania, the U.K., Spain, Germany, Norway, and elsewhere will allegedly go for the big bucks. We can’t wait to see how they mesh with the players who already know the game.

ViacomCBS did not return a request for comment regarding the casting rumors by the time of publication.
