The cast can make or break MTV’s The Challenge each season. Season 36 had plenty of returning favorites, and multi-Challenge champion CT Tamburello ended up taking home the big winnings with his rookie partner, Amber Borzotra. According to casting rumors, CT plans on returning for season 37. But it looks like Amber was put as an alternate for the new season.

As for the rest of the cast, many Double Agents players are rumored to return. Nany Gonzalez, Tori Deal, Ashley Mitchell, Big T Fazakerley, Aneesa Ferreira, and Kaycee Clark will reportedly return for the women. And Nelson Thomas, Nam Vo, Devin Walker, Fessy Shafaat, Josh Martinez, Cory Wharton, Kyle Christie, and CT Tamburello will reportedly come back for the men.

We’ll see plenty of rookies in the new season as well. NovaRogue notes a number of players from international Survivor seasons will compete. There are also a few rumored rookies from the U.K., Germany, Nigeria, Sweden, and Poland.

While MTV’s The Challenge production crew hasn’t made any official announcements regarding season 37 (or if the season’s happening at all), rumors still fly. And it seems the high number of international contestants could come into play with the new format.

Over the years, production came up with a number of season themes that paired friends, family members, and enemies for interesting gameplay. Now, it looks like fans might get a theme they’ve never seen before. The Challenge Chronicles podcast said rumors suggest the season 37 theme will pair one international player with an American player.

“We know the format now,” the podcasters noted. “It’s not one alumni with one newbie. It’s actually one international player with one American character. So, Kyle [Christie] could be paired with Tori [Deal], for example.”

So, when will fans get to see MTV’s The Challenge air? So far, MTV’s mum on the subject. But additional rumors suggested production temporarily shut the season down due to coronavirus (COVID-19) procedures. This means either a member of the cast or crew contracted the virus prior to or during filming.

“There was a report that somebody involved in the production of the show had tested positive for covid,” the podcast crew explained. “They actually either reset the whole season when they came back, or a cast member left during quarantine, so they brought back a member of the cast who had already been eliminated. … I’ve heard that they got through the first elimination.”

Could the temporary shutdown delay the season’s air date? We certainly hope not. For now, we’ll keep an ear out for additional spoilers.

Viacom/MTV did not return a request for comment regarding the rumors by the time of publication.
