Fans awaiting MTV’s The Challenge Season 38 details don’t have much to go on yet — but there’s still plenty of news from the franchise. The Challenge universe is officially coming to CBS and Paramount+ with new spinoffs, one of which is titled The Challenge: War of the Worlds. Fans hoping to see their favorite veteran players compete in The Challenge: War of the Worlds cast might be out of luck, though. A spoiler account for the show said MTV’s veterans won’t compete in the spinoff series.

While fans wait for The Challenge Season 38 details, MTV, Paramount+, and CBS share their good news. According to Variety, Paramount+ plans on launching The Challenge: Argentina, The Challenge: Australia, and The Challenge U.K. for international viewers.

As for fans in the U.S., CBS plans on launching their own version of the series. Variety reports The Challenge: CBS airs in the summer of 2022. Then, once The Challenge: Argentina, Australia, U.K., and CBS air, worlds collide with another spinoff. The Challenge: War of the Worlds combines all four shows.

A preview video from Paramount+ gives fans a glimpse of what they can expect from War of the Worlds. The preview shows a montage of trucks taking the competitors through steep mountains, and the contestants are then shown walking through tall grass and traversing snowy peaks.

“The franchise that created unscripted competition, where sports and reality collide, is going global,” the voiceover explains. “Where the biggest reality athletes battle it out to be named their country’s champion. … The next evolution of global reality competition is here.”

A spoiler account says MTV veterans won’t join ‘The Challenge: War of the Worlds’ cast

Fans are eager to hear who makes it into The Challenge: War of the Worlds cast. The teaser shows a number of Challenge veterans, like Cory Wharton and Nelson Thomas — but according to spoiler guru GamerVev, veteran players from MTV’s The Challenge won’t compete on the new spinoff.

“I was told two weeks ago that MTV is not eligible for the CBS show — we will see though,” GamerVev tweeted in regards to the cast, according to Reddit. “I expect only CBS cast.”

In another tweet, Gamervev notes, “MTV cast isn’t even eligible for The Challenge: War of the Worlds show omg. The ‘America’ representation will be the winner of CBS’s The Challenge omg.” Gamervev added a vomiting emoji face.

This likely means the CBS Challenge cast will consist of players from shows like Big Brother, Survivor, The Amazing Race, and Love Island. While a number of veterans expected to compete in The Challenge Season 38 came from Big Brother, like Kaycee Clark, Josh Martinez, and Fessy Shafaat, it seems fans allegedly won’t see them on the spinoffs.
