Marvel fans have been through a lot in the past couple of years. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced the studio to delay the release of all of its Marvel Cinematic Universe projects. But now it seems like the worst is behind us, and fans can look forward to new films and television shows. However, Taika Waititi has an update on when fans can expect to see Thor: Love and Thunder.

Taika Waititi says ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ isn’t finished

While speaking to Variety on the red carpet for the Film Independent Spirit Awards, director Taika Waititi claimed there wasn’t anything left to be said about Thor: Love and Thunder.

“There’s nothing left,” Waititi said. “I’ve said everything for the last two years. It’s still not finished.”

When the reporter asked when the movie would be complete, the director jokingly answered, “It comes out in July, so probably like end of June? Probably like a day before the premiere. That’s how we do it.”

Likely, Marvel is still working on the post-production elements of Thor: Love and Thunder. So fans shouldn’t be worried that its release date will change. As Waititi said, the movie comes out in July, and it will assumingly stay that way.

Taika Waititi teases ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

During an interview with Empire in July 2021, Taika Waititi discussed what fans could expect from Thor: Love and Thunder.

“Well, just between (me and) you and the readers, I’ve done some crazy sh** in my life,” the director shared. “I’ve lived, like, 10 lifetimes. But [Thor: Love and Thunder]’s the craziest film I’ve ever done.”

Waititi continued, “If you wrote down all the elements of this film, it shouldn’t make sense. It’s almost like it shouldn’t be made. If you walked into a room and said, ‘I want this and this and this.’ Who’s in it? These people. What are you going to call it? Love and Thunder. I mean, you’d never work again. Maybe I won’t after this.”

“It’s very different from Ragnarok,” he concluded. “It’s crazier. I’ll tell you what’s different. There’ll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love and a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you’ve seen the photos.”

Thankfully, fans won’t have to wait much longer to understand what Taika Waititi meant when he described Thor: Love and Thunder.
