Vanderpump Rules has experienced a lot of changes in the last year, including a cast shakeup after racist allegations. As Bravo reconfigured contracts and the cast lineup, several of the reality show’s past and present stars welcomed children. Recently, Katie Maloney-Schwartz opened up about her own conception journey and how she feels about her recent conversation with Lisa Vanderpump during season 9.

A lot of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ cast members have welcomed babies recently

The past year has been a big one for several members of the Vanderpump Rules cast. Stassi Schroeder and her husband, Beau Clark, welcome a baby girl named Hartford Charlie Rose in January 2021. Current cast member Lala Kent gave birth to her baby, Ocean, with Randall Emmett in March 2021.

In April 2021, former cast members Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright had their baby, Cruz. Current cast member Scheana Shay and her fiancé, Brock Davies, also had a baby in April 2021. The couple welcomed their daughter, Summer Moon in April.

The newly-expanded families have been a big focus in recent episodes of Vanderpump Rules. Viewers learned how the cast members are adapting to the pressures of parenthood.  With all of the new babies, however, one cast member is still experiencing a very public fertility journey.

Katie Maloney-Schwartz and Tom Schwartz are currently trying to have a baby

Katie Maloney-Schwartz and her husband, Tom Schwartz, have a long history together, supporting each other through good times and bad. In a recent episode of Vanderpump Rules, Maloney-Schwartz opened up about how she got an abortion early on in their relationship — close to 10 years ago. “It was so early in our relationship,” the 34-year-old shared in the episode. Schwartz chimed in, saying “We were uncertain about the next day.”

Although the two revealed they made the best decision for their situation at the time, the couple admitted they still think about what would’ve happened if they had the baby. In light of their recent journey to try to have a baby –visiting with a fertility doctor and working hard to expand their family — the abortion conversation has been a discussion among fans.

In a recent episode of Maloney-Schwartz’s podcast, You’re Gonna Love Me, the reality star chatted about how hard it has been to try to get pregnant as her friends welcome babies:

“So everyone around me is getting pregnant, which is amazing, like one blessing after the next. But I started to feel like all eyes were on me. And my friends were like, ‘You’re next! It’s going to happen! Keep trying! Keep going! It was a lot … I wasn’t handling it very well … This is just so much pressure.”

During her podcast, Katie Maloney-Schwartz admitted that a recent conversation with Lisa Vanderpump was less than inspiring. Taking place after Vanderpump asked her about her plans for a future faimly, Maloney-Schwartz explains:

“When I sit down and I’m talking to Lisa [Vanderpump] and she’s like, ‘Well, why are you guys going to see a fertility doctor? Did you even try?’ That question — I get where it was coming from; it’s coming from a good place. But it can feel very invalidating and invasive. Because it’s like, ‘Yes, I tried. Of course, we tried.'”

Maloney-Schwartz went on to say that there’s a lot of “societal pressure” for women to have babies. She wants her fertility journey with her husband to unfold naturally. The 34-year-old also said fans can expect to see a lot more of her journey on Vanderpump Rules in the coming months.
