5. Outside the Wire

If you enjoy films that balance out technology, action, and politics, then you’ll definitely enjoy Outside the Wire. This movie was released on January 15, 2021 and starred Anthony Mackie, Damson Idris, and Enzo Cilenti. 

It’s about a drone pilot and a top-secret android officer that have to work together in a war zone to stop a drone attack that could cripple all of humanity. The Villain, Victor Koval (Pilou Asbæk), wants to gain control of a network of nuclear weapons and must be stopped.

They go to a military base, only to find themselves racing against time to prevent a nuke from killing more people. This film has a 37% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.2 on IMDb.

4. Yes Day

Yes Day was initially released on March 12, 2021, and had such an amazing plot that viewers have described as fun and entertaining. This movie is about the Torres family, Allison and Carlos Torres (the parents), Katie Torres, Nando Torres, and Ellie Torres.

The parents feel as though they always say “no” to their children, and after they attend a parent-teacher conference, they realize that their children feel smothered.

A gym teacher at the school recommends that they give their children a yes day, which is basically 24 hours where they can’t say no to anything. Yes, Day has a 51% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.7 on IMDb.

3. Army of the Dead

This movie was initially released on May 21, 2021, and is a horror/action film. It’s about a group of mercenaries hired by a casino owner to break into a secure vault and retrieve the money left behind after a zombie outbreak. 

There’s just one problem, the government has already evacuated the city, and the only people left behind are those suspected of being infected. There are also plans to blow up the city using a nuclear bomb. Will they make it?

This film has a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes and 5.8 on IMDb.

2. The Mitchells vs. The Machines

The plot of this movie is simple: Machines taking over the world. Kate Mitchell has always been artistic, but unfortunately, her creativity makes her an outsider in school. She’s accepted into the film school she’s always wanted to go to and, her dad, in an attempt to rekindle their relationship, decides to turn her journey into a family road trip. 

They are, however, in for a major shock when there’s a tech uprising and the devices that people love so much take over the world. This film has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and 7.7 on IMDb.
