After being one of the most popular shows on the Disney Channel from 2001 to 2004, the Lizzie McGuire series became a franchise with the arrival of The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003. The show was so popular that it still warrants a huge following, and star Hilary Duff once sought to make a reboot but was, unfortunately, unsuccessful. Here are all the details on where to watch The Lizzie McGuire Movie and other Disney Channel Original Movies for your next nostalgic binge.

Lizzie McGuire was a Disney success

Though she claims she “bombed” her audition for the role of Lizzie, Duff became something of a lesser-known Disney princess after her starring role in the series. As detailed by E Online, “After making its debut on the Disney Channel in January 2001, Lizzie McGuire quickly became the network’s most successful original series ever and turned Duff into young Hollywood’s tween queen.” And while Duff and series creator Terri Minsky were famously at odds about Duff’s earnings and contracts, Duff reportedly made over $100 million from the Lizzie McGuire franchise.

‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’ is available on Disney+

Following the Disney Channel series, which chronicled Lizzie McGuire’s escapades as a middle-schooler, The Lizzie McGuire Movie premiered in 2003. It followed Lizzie on her junior-high graduation trip to Rome, the movie offers more of Duff’s on-point comedy and the return of many of the series’ main actors like Adam Lamberg as Gordo, Hallie Todd as Jo, Ashlie Brillault as Kate, Jake Thomas as Matt, and Clayton Snyder as Ethan.

For those with a subscription to Disney+, both the Lizzie McGuire series and the movie are available as they were both original Disney content. The Lizzie McGuire Movie is also available to rent or buy on Amazon. While the film is not currently available on Netflix or Hulu, fans can also rent or buy the film through Apple TV+, Redbox, Google Play, and Vudu.

The best Disney Channel Original Movies from the ’90s and 2000s and where to watch them

In addition to The Lizzie McGuire Movie, there are many other pre-teen and teen hits from the ’90s and 2000s Disney Channel Original Movie lineup available on Disney+. The epic 90s twin-sister comedy Sister, Sister fueled the careers of Tia and Tamera Mowry, who later starred in the 2005 Disney Channel Original Movie Twitches, which is also available to rent or buy on Amazon and Google Play. As is the 1998 skate movie Brink and the family Halloween classic Halloweentown, which had a far darker original ending.

Interestingly, there are several movies made by Disney in the ’90s and 2000s that are not currently available on Disney+ due to various production restrictions. Fans can rewatch the 1996 Disney movie Wish Upon a Star starring Katherine Heigl for free on Pluto, Plex, and tubi, and the film is available on Amazon Prime as well as to rent or buy on Amazon, Vudu, iTunes, and Google Play.

And, in case viewers have room for one more Disney Channel Original Movie in their binge lineup, the 1999 movie Don’t Look Under the Bed is available on Disney+, and to rent or buy on Amazon and Google Play. Fans can then follow up with Kirk Cameron’s You Lucky Dog (which is available on the same platforms) for a feel-good end to their Disney binge bliss.
