Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner has played John Dutton — the owner of the largest ranch in the United States — for four seasons. For more than 20 years, Costner has been the proud owner of the real-life Dunbar Ranch just outside of Aspen, Colorado. When Costner is in Montana playing cowboy on Taylor Sheridan’s new-western, the property is available to rent. But Yellowstone fans won’t believe how much it costs to stay there per night.

‘Yellowstone’ star Kevin Costner named his ranch after his character in ‘Dances With Wolves’

Back in 2000, Costner purchased a 160-acre property just ten minutes from downtown Aspen which he proceeded to name the Dunbar Ranch. He named his new home after his character John Dunbar in the 1990 Oscar-winning film Dances With Wolves.

According to Taste of Country, Costner’s ranch is absolutely stunning and features three standalone homes — the main house, a lake house, and a river house — that can accommodate up to 34 people.

The opulent main house has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, and it overlooks the Roaring Fork River. One of its most unique features is a trap door that is accessible from the master suite which leads to a flight of stairs that end at a secluded hot tub grotto.

Depending on the season, there are numerous outdoor activities to enjoy. There’s dog sledding, tubing, a private ice rink, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, paddleboarding, archery, a private baseball field inspired by Costner’s film Field of Dreams, and more.

Costner’s secluded property is in the Elk Mountain Range at the base of Independence Pass, and it has spectacular views of the Continental Divide. When he’s away filming Yellowstone, Costner offers up his home to fans who are willing to pay $36,000 per night for the entire property.

“Anything you could ever want is right here,” realtor Amy Mottier says in a promotional video, per Sunset. “There’s an overwhelming sense of serenity when you enter the property.”

The ultra-luxurious a la carte amenities available during a stay at the Dunbar Ranch include an assistant, a driver, a butler, a ski instructor, a yoga instructor, a chef, a masseuse, a personal trainer, a hair and nail technician, a babysitter, an event planner, and more.

According to the Dunbar Ranch website, the large menu of other rental options includes renting just one or two of the residences. The property is also available for weddings and other special events.

The ‘Yellowstone’ star has a busy filming schedule this year

Costner will soon be joining the rest of the Yellowstone cast and crew in Montana to film season 5. Production is scheduled to begin mid-May, and the Oscar winner will likely be away from the Dunbar Ranch for the entire summer.

That’s because the upcoming season will be bigger than ever before. Season 5 will have a total of 14 episodes, and the season will be split into two halves. Costner is also returning to the director’s chair in late August for his new passion project Horizon.
