On Tuesday, 50 Cent was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where he discussed his 2025 docuseries, Sean Combs: The Reckoning. In addition to interviews with those who knew Diddy, the series also featured clips of Diddy just days before his 2024 arrest on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

The gleeful rapper shared how he got his hands on the video.

“Look, you know, when you get a RICO charge, you forget to pay the guy who had the camera,” he said with a laugh.

The Grammy winner went on to say that he didn’t understand why Diddy was filming himself. But that as soon as he saw the footage, he knew it was gold.

“I don’t know why he filmed that … when I was looking I was like, ‘Oh [expletive],’” he said. “I could not believe that he did that. I was like yo this is going to be great. I’m going to blow the wheels.”

In the Netflix doc, Diddy is seen conferring with his legal team by phone in a New York City hotel room.

“It’s really going to be hard for me to take more hits than I’ve taken, and — god forbid — get in front of a jury and have a chance,” he says.

Diddy goes on to say he’s followed his lawyer’s advice but that it’s doesn’t appear to be working. Now, he’s waiting “for a shoe to drop.”

The Bad Boy Records founder then discusses his aggressive PR strategy, including getting the message out to potential jurors that he is innocent.

“We have to find somebody that’ll work with us … it could be somebody that’s dealt in the dirtiest of dirty business of media and propaganda,” Combs says.

‘Sean Combs: The Reckoning’ director said footage was obtained ‘legally’

Last year, Sean Combs: The Reckoning director Alexandria Stapleton talked to Tudum about the origin of the footage.

“It came to us, we obtained the footage legally and have the necessary rights,” she said. “We moved heaven and earth to keep the filmmaker’s identity confidential. One thing about Sean Combs is that he’s always filming himself, and it’s been an obsession throughout the decades. We also reached out to Sean Combs’ legal team for an interview and comment multiple times, but did not hear back.”

In his interview with Kimmel, 50 Cent also commented on reports that Diddy – who is currently serving a 50-month prison sentence on prostitution-related charges – watched the doc on an illicit iPad while behind bars at FCI Fort Dix.

“Oh, and I didn’t know he would get a jailbroken iPad in the middle of the jail. This is not jail. This is like a club,” he said.

“I’m sure he thought it was the best documentary he ever saw in his life,” he added.

Sean Combs: The Reckoning is streaming on Netflix.
