Andy Cohen Shared Why Vicki Gunvalson ‘Isn’t Vibing’ With the ‘RHOC’ Cast
Vicki Gunvalson returned to reality television with appearances on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip and RHOC. On both shows, she has had some difficulty fitting in with the other women. While she has found some footing on RHUGT, she is still struggling on RHOC. Andy Cohen speculated on why this might be.
Andy Cohen spoke about where Vicki Gunvalson was in life while filming ‘RHOC’ and ‘Girls Trip’
On his radio show, Cohen recently fielded a call from someone who wondered if Gunvalson was a “Debbie Downer.” Cohen feels that the disconnect on RHUGT comes from the fact that Gunvalson was wading back into reality TV for the first time in a while.
“First of all, she shot Girls Trip first. She hadn’t been on television in, you know, a few years, so she was kinda coming into it,” Cohen responded on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live. “I think that in terms of Vicki on Orange County, what I like about it is that we have been watching this woman for 20 years, and you are seeing her, as you said, at a different life stage, and yes, she’s at a different life stage than many of the other women, but you know, you see her reflecting on her life a lot on that show. She regrets divorcing Don. She is dealing with some ailments.”
He also noted that on RHUGT, Gunvalson might be struggling with sharing the spotlight with other famous Housewives.

Gunvalson has also struggled through her return to RHOC. She has clashed with several other castmates. She is years older than some of her castmates.
“[I] find her on Orange County to be placed in the moment that she is in her life, so maybe for the viewers, it’s not vibing because she’s at such a different place than Gina [Kirschenheiter] or Emily [Simpson] or whatever,” he said. “She is an elder.”
Still, he thinks that Gunvalson deserves her spot on the show, particularly on Girls Trip. She managed to have fun with her castmates on a recent episode.
She said she was happy to return to RHOC
This season, Gunvalson is back on RHOC after several years away. She said her return means a lot to her.
“When [Andy] said, ‘We’d like to offer you season 20…’ Of course, I’m gonna say yes,” she said on My Friend, My Soulmate, My Podcast podcast. “I kind of lost my world. It just kind of got interesting, euphoric. It was an out-of-body experience.”
She said her primary goal in returning was giving fans a good show.
“I have a sense of responsibility to bring a really good show,” she said, adding, “I’m not gonna let you down. I’m really excited.”
