Angelina Jolie could be the next celebrity to relocate to another country. Several A-list stars have opted to live abroad in recent years, leaving Los Angeles behind for quieter, more comfortable environments. Jolie has long wanted to live elsewhere, but a custody agreement has kept her tethered to Los Angeles. That agreement will expire in July 2026, and rumors are swirling that she’s already planning her escape from the Golden State.

Angelina Jolie allegedly plans to move in 2026

Angelina Jolie is required to remain in the United States through 2026. Insiders claim that the busy mom is counting down the days until she can pack up and leave LA behind. Jolie discussed her desire to live elsewhere back in 2024. During a chat with The Hollywood Reporter, she said that when her youngest children turn 18, she’ll finally be able to leave Los Angeles. Jolie revealed that she never intended to live full-time in the city where she grew up. Instead, she said, she was tied to the area from “a divorce.”

The only divorce she could possibly be referring to is the one from Brad Pitt. While the couple spent much of their relationship not married, they eventually tied the knot and shared six children before things ultimately unraveled. They split in 2016 after 2 years of marriage and 12 years together. Jolie accused Pitt of abuse, and the children, despite the couple sharing custody, largely sided with their mother. Still, the custody agreement allegedly required the kids to primarily reside in Los Angeles while minors. The last Jolie-Pitt children turn 18 in July 2026. Once that happens, Angelina Jolie’s tie to Brad Pitt will be severed, and she’s free to move as she wants, though it’s unclear if her kids will follow.

How many kids do Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt spent 12 years together, linking up immediately after his split from Jennifer Aniston. They welcomed six children together over the course of their relationship. When Pitt and Jolie went public with their romance, she was already a mother. Jolie adopted Maddox Jolie in 2002 as a single parent. He was born in Cambodia in 2001. Pitt adopted Maddox in 2006.

In 2005, Jolie adopted a second child. Zahara was adopted by Jolie in July 2005, when she was just six months old. Pitt formally adopted Zahara the following year. Less than a year after Zahara joined the family, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s first biological child was born. Shiloh, now a dancer, was born in Namibia in 2006. In 2007, the couple adopted again. They welcomed Pax into the family just before he turned four, though Vietnamese law required Jolie to adopt as a single parent, as she and Pitt were still unmarried. He completed a legal adoption in the United States in 2008.

In July 2008, the couple completed their family with the arrival of twins, Knox and Vivienne. The twins were born in France, where Jolie seemed to feel most comfortable. While they’ve grown up mainly in Los Angeles, Jolie has managed to provide her children with a fair bit of anonymity. Photos of them, including the twins, are rarely published, though they were spotted out grocery shopping with their mom last year.
