Armie Hammer Says He’s ‘Never Been Happier’ After Getting Canceled
Armie Hammer was canceled in 2021 following allegations of abuse and cannibalism. The actor virtually vanished from the public eye for five years. He has recently resurfaced in the hopes of rehabilitating his career. He said that while the allegations were terrible for his career, he is in a much better place than he’s ever been now.

In 2021, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office opened an investigation into Hammer following multiple allegations against him. Two of his exes alleged that he sent them cannibalistic fantasies, and another woman accused him of rape. He never faced charges due to insufficient evidence. Still, this derailed his successful acting career.
While his life is in a much different place now, he said he is happier now.
“I’ve never been happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life,” he said in an interview on Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast.
He added that “the good place only comes from walking through hell,” in reference to the time he says “everyone just [deciding] that they hate” him.
Hammer went to therapy and is now sober from drug, alcohol, and sex addictions.
“Therapy for me has been a life changer,” he said. “I needed an adjustment… Here’s what I think would have happened had none of this gone on — the cataclysmic tectonic shift in my life wouldn’t have happened. My life would have kept going exactly as it was, and I know that would ultimately only lead in one place and that’s death.”
He views the allegations against him and his subsequent cancellation as a growing period.
“I cheated on my wife,” he said, adding, “I used people to make me feel better. I was callous and inconsiderate with people and their emotions and their well-being. There are things in my behavior that I have to take accountability for, right? Because that is pivotal for me, learning and growing from it.”
Hammer added that while he considered himself “broke,” he realized he doesn’t need money to be happy.
