At least, they weren’t on hand for a smaller, more intimate rehearsal dinner that was held on July 2. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’ lack of involvement is speaking volumes about where the once-close friendship now stands.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively Didn’t Make It to Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s Rehearsal Dinner
The hubbub over Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding has reached its climax. The pair is set to get married on July 3, and now fans are focusing their attention on who is attending, and, perhaps more importantly, who is not attending the special event. Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were decidedly absent from the rehearsal dinner, and they had no problem making that fact known. The pair, who were once close confidants of Swift’s, were in Lake Placid, New York, at a horse show instead.
While it is still possible that Reynolds and Lively could still make the very long trek from Lake Placid to Manhattan ahead of the actual wedding, the fact that they were no-shows at the rehearsal dinner says a lot. Lively and Swift were once the closest of friends, with Swift serving as godmother to Lively’s daughters. If they were still as close, Blake or Ryan would have found a way to make it to the event, despite their daughter’s upstate event.
Blake Lively’s absence isn’t entirely unexpected. There has been chatter about Swift and Lively’s falling out for months. They are rumored to have fallen out after Lively dragged Swift into her legal drama with Justin Baldoni. Rumors of a rift were further heightened when Kelce stopped following Ryan Reynolds on Instagram, and leaked text messages prove things had turned awkward, despite a decade of friendship. While the former pals have neither confirmed nor denied the rift, their absence feels like loud confirmation that things remain icy.
Who Was Seen Heading to MSG on July 2
Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds kept it quaint and casual in upstate New York during Travis and Taylor’s rehearsal dinner, but the rest of the entertainment world did not. There was a steady stream of Swift and Kelce’s famous friends and family photographed arriving at Madison Square Garden throughout the day on July 2. Jack Antonoff, Swift’s longtime musical collaborator, was seen arriving dressed up for the occasion. In an awkward turn, his ex, Lena Dunham, was also spotted arriving. Gigi Hadid, Abigail Anderson, Bradley Cooper, and Adam Sandler were all spotted heading into the arena.
Selena Gomez, one of Swift’s closest friends and reportedly a bridesmaid, shared an Instagram Story showing herself doing makeup touch-ups in the car en route to the venue. Donna Kelce, meanwhile, was whisked away to Madison Square Garden immediately after landing at LaGuardia early on July 2. Kelce’s Chiefs teammates have been spotted staying at a hotel near the venue in the days leading up to the big event, too.
